Is it a stick or an auto?
Everyone says that the auto is fine in that car, but it has to have the ugliest automatic shift lever in all cardom. It looks like they stole one from a 1980's VW rabbit and then gave it to someone at Pontiac to make it look "sporty".
I forgot to ask lol

Stock colour? I've never seen one in that shade. And later model wheels from a 911, too, right?
Looks good regardless.
I'm guessing later model 911 wheels and maybe not the stock color, but it's certainly darn good lookin.
There is actually good support from a few specific aftermarket companies. The shifter can easily be replaced with a MUCH more attractive piece. BTW-the engine takes boost really well. ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/evil-18.png)
Definitely look up 928 Specialists and 928 International online for parts

sad to say.. not all the problems with that car where electronic. The early 928s had vacuume powered power door locks..
IIRC, a crop of solenoids under the driver's seat that can create all sorts of fun.
It's a game of Russian roulette. My uncle owned three over the years (now has a 996 cabrio) and only one of them was a nightmare--but he drove that one 105k from new.
So much that could potentially happen, but it's a phenomenal GT car that's aged VERY gracefully.
The color choice was very good. Never saw one it yellow, but it works.
I finally got off my butt and joined this. I'm the guy who purchased the car. Currently she is around 95k miles and still running quite well. The color is not original and is actually licensed Lamborghini yellow paint. It's an okay job overall but very splotchy in some places which if I have her in the long term will be probably a lot of touch up work. The Gear shift is meh but I can deal and the interior is all original and good shape overall for being 30 years old 'cept I guess the second owner (I'm the 4th) wanted to change the tape deck for a c.d. (I would rather had the old cassette one actually anyway). Shocking I read the power windows are always the first thing to do and they actually work flawlessly. Got collectors plates on it and garaging it way before it gets too cold or anything to do with winter since every owner before me did the same. I love the car and everything from how it handles, the seating arrangement, dash, how it delivers its power (originally 229, probably a tad under 200 now with age), and frankly the styling all are fantastic.
As for what isn't great... The locks are bunk like what someone mentioned. They turn on and off over and over again after using them (15 minutes one time) and will lock you if you use them sometimes... so I am currently looking into deactivating them and replacing them with just a key lock (simpler but not gonna break). The AC sometimes work but frankly the windows are down 90% of the time and I am fine without. Then the speedo works but only when you're at about 3/4 a tank and above. What I am thinking is happening is the electrical lines merge together in places so when the dash gauge is below its not sending the right signal for the speedo but just reading the tachometer works fine for gauging speed.
Then I have a bit of an issue at hand (nothing too bad). I have been trying to maintain the car well I have been doing oil and filter changes way more frequently than necessarily to make sure everything's running well. The fuel line, brakes, and air filtration was all replaced shortly before I got it and I have recently changed the fuel injectors, and done a somewhat thorough maintenance job on it. However; I am now having a slight issue that no one seems to know for sure what I need... and that's what transmission fluid it'll take. Carl (the guy I got her from) did a changed shortly before selling and I checked it when going through the car and its low (not really dangerously but I will not drive it till I can take care of it). I am having issues contacting the man I purchased it from or a guy I know who has a '78 on what kind it'll take. My owners manual says Dexron II Type-D which is obsolete and hasn't been made since the 80s. So I read things on how Dex III will do the same and better but some won't work on old cars, I've been browsing forums, and nothing conclusive ('cept on S4s and GTSs). I've read of people putting in something that's multi-vehicle and blowing the tranny in 2 minutes and spending 8k plus in a rebuild... and yeah... not in budget and not will/wanting to take any chances. If any one have an ideas where to point me in the right direction that would be awesome. Thanks.

Nice car! Not to sound like a smart ass, but have you asked the local Porsche dealer service department what transmission fluid you should use?
From the Porsche Classic FAQ website:
Which is the most suitable transmission fluid or engine oil for my Porsche?
Due to the range of internationally divergent directives and guidelines relating to the use of transmission fluids and engine oils, we would ask you to contact your local Porsche dealer. Please bear in mind that you will need to quote your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) before your enquiry can be dealt with properly.
I like that Yellow on it.

Go to rennlist - the 928 forum is full of info. Also 928srus.com is one of the gurus. One thing to check on an auto is the crankshaft/flex plate end play. Apparently, they load up on autos that have been driven hard - puts extra pressure/wear on the crank thrust bearing (there's a fix - the pklamp). Rennlist is a pretty civil site - but definitely read the faqs first. BTW, great looking 928.

Pelican Parts is your best friend. And their forums are amazing for Porsches. Go there now. :-)

Pelican has one of the least intuitive sites on the net. Shoot me a PM if you ever need anything, and I'll hook you up.
Man. That car looks nice in yellow! Not a color I would have forecast to look interesting. Post up some interior shots if you can.
I love it...the 2nd nice looking 928 to pop up here in ~1 week! ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/cool-18.png)
I planned on calling the nearest dealership but felt apprehensiveness since I have heard how they'd just want me to take her in and do it for a "special price". I ended up calling the guy I bought it from and he replaced his old 928s with a 78 manual so no longer needed the atf so I got it from him and took care of it =)
I have an interior shot on the garage in my profile. Also gonna maybe link an album in my photo bucket of about 50 pics of her.
