Like the title says-anyone have a product they like for bringing old rubber trim back from the brink? Specifically, I have door seals that may or may not survive the removal and replacement in their future, and if I could bring them back a bit, it would improve my chances.
Also, I recognize this is a lob for jokes-aaand go!
Black Magic tire wet. Or Silicone Spray, from like CRC.

A Tempary fix used a lot on motorcycle air cleaner boots and other tight fitting hard rubber parts is.
"you want pure Methyl salicylate (oil of wintergreen) You used to be able to buy it at drug stores in a fairly big bottle but nobody carries it in store any more. I actually don't think I have seen a bottle sell locally since 2002.
not that you need this much but this is what you want:

mix is usually 2:1-5:1 with water (5 parts water to 1 part oil). It will make your house stink like wintergreen while you are boiling it. "
soak part till soft and install it will re-harden in a few weeks to a month depending on heat cycles and thickness
I've heard of good results with marinating in silicone or soaking in boiling water...and those are low-risk methods.

BMW had a product at one time called GummiPflege that worked really well. It took a couple of applications on my wife's Z3 (Texas heat is killer) and was good enough to remove small cracks.
Quick internet sleuthing looks like BMW doesn't make it anymore, but you can find it on Amazon or eBay.

^Looks like a company called nextzett is making it now.
