It should be a cool event, and several of us from the magazine will be there. It's also the final round of the Small-Bore Cup, and event we're hosting.

As far as lodging, the Westin Savannah is within walking distance. You can also take the water taxi to downtown Savannah. Then you can choose from a ton of places.

Nice to know the Savannah Harbor track is back in use. I attended the inaugural event (back in '96?) and had a wonderful time.

It's Savannah, and a prime tourist destination, so accomodations are usually readily available. My trip was a last-minute decision so finding a hotel really close-by was difficult. I ended-up getting a room a bit outside of the downtown area and parking in a public deck a few blocks away from River Street. Walking through historic Savannah is a real treat, as is River Street; don't imbibe too much as the cobble stone street may be a bit of a challenge to those with balance issues.

The water taxi was fun, but I missed having easy access to the car - no provisions means you're dependent on vendors for food and drink; the beers weren't cheap.

It's an HSR event, so it not your stereotypical vintage race. HSR does a good job of welcoming a wide range of cars and fitting them into their class structure. So you will see a great range of cars. Even some "not so old" stuff.

You'll need to log in to post.
