I hope I spelled that right. On the way home today from MrJoshua's from working on the challenge Citicar I stopped at a gas station. Noticed the tar like adhesive that was used to hold the body panels on the citicar had gotten on my pants, and therefore transfered to the door of the SVX. Few choice words followed by scraping the big chunks with a fingernail so they didn't get ground in. Needless to say I'm pissed but I need to figure out how to clean the tar like stuff off the suede(sp?) interior. Any advice?
fire, seriusly though any solvents that are strong enough to remove it will ruin the suede, there's no good news here.
WD-40 works on the stuff found inside Miata doors, and it should be fairly benign.
Ice? Can you freeze it?
At least it wasn't on your hootus.
We used citrus degreaser (orange oil, d-limonene, Goof Off type stuff) at the asphalt plant to dissolve tar. Works pretty well and will probably stain the hell outta suede, melt the adhesive used to glue it down, and possibly disfigure the plastic. Your car will reek eye-wateringly of orange peal. Possibly forever. But the tar will be gone.
Thanks for the suggestions so far!
I'll start with ice.
