Well I finally tried to hook up with the kid and go see the truck this past weekend, however when I got a hold of the kid it came out that he has an issue with the title. He apparently never had it transferred into his name at the time he bought it (why?) and never had the seller's signature notarized. So the Yota is out, which is probably for the best.

So in lieu of that, I am going to see this on Thursday: http://york.craigslist.org/cto/4700671002.html

Rather than start a new thread, I figured I would just change the subject of this one.

Pros:

•With the snow tires, it has to be virtually unstoppable in winter

•Instant rally x machine

•Much more fun to drive than a truck

•So berkeleying 80s

Cons:

•Allegedly pretty rusty (rear qp, bottom of doors, back end of rockers)

•Can you even find parts for these? I dont recall ever seeing one for sale before.

•The steering issue is my big fear. If it really is the computer i cant beleive i will ever be able to find one. Seller says he flushed with the Cybrid fluid and I dont know if he has done the brushes for the motor (seems that causes similar symptoms to what he describes). Any idea if there is a manual rack that would swap in?

This is probably not the most rational choice out there, but then again what fun would that be. Whats the consensus on this one guys?

For the steering, you should be able to rig something up to control the pump speed if the computer is bad. I think just hardwiring it will make the pump run full power all the time, but you could make a PWM controller (GPS runs an XT6 pump like this in his E30 of Doom).

These cars are very rare and any parts specific to them are going to be hard to find on a WW2-fighter-plane level.
