Used the Supercoupe to run errands today. Saw a guy at the recycling center eyeing it, and when he saw it had a manual he struck up a conversation.
Next, a guy at the grocery store came up to me and said "Man, you driving a classic! Those wheels--are those Enkeis? And Recaros? Whaaaaat?"
Driving home, got the "hand on the wheel, index finger what's up" from a guy in a G8 GXP.

Even a thumbs up directed at you in traffic can brighten an otherwise lackluster day. A phone hanging out a window to snap a pic is even better
When my wife first started going places with me in the classics she would get unsettled. "Why is everyone looking at us?" I'd laugh and say "Honey, we are in a cool car." A wide eyed "Oh yeah!" would follow and she would start waving and smiling.
Nobody notices the AW11 most of the time (I have ignored it so long myself that I've almost forgotten that I own it). The J20, on the other hand, starts a lot of conversations. My wife borrowed it once to pick up some mulch or something and returned with the announcement that, "this thing gets a lot of attention!" Might have had to do with the fact that she was driving it - I'm not near as pretty as she is...
My wife finds my 87 Scirocco track car unattractive. We were returning a rental Uhaul a couple weeks ago with me in the lead. We pulled into the left turn lane to wait for the light to change. A guy a few cars up got out, looked me in the eyes, gave me the horns, shook his head yes, and got back in the car. Later my wife says to me, "you liked that didn't you?" Uh yeah. I just smiled back at her.
I had to drive the car for about a week (it's not very streetable) last week, and everywhere I went I got thumbs up, peace signs, horns, and nods or shouts of "cool car."
Yep, feels good.

And with a colleague at work. Who wore the dirt better?
I normally drive beaters or just cars that are very common but I've definitely felt strange getting attention now that I occasionally drive my 996 911. Feels good.
I daily drive a 1986 BMW M535i in the summer, and a 1988 BMW 325iX in the winter. To me they're mainly just old cars that I've owned forever, but I guess over time they've evolved into cars of interest. Pretty much every single day I get some sort of recognition - a thumbs up on the highway, a "Hey, nice car" if I'm parked somewhere, or even asking if they can take pictures. Yeah, it feels good.

Other Jeeps wave at me all the time, but that's different :D
I'm a huge attention whore and miss driving around my fully themed Lemon. I used to get people coming up to me all the time. Very few people understood the theme, but it did end up on R/E36 M3tycarmods once, which was like hitting the jackpot.
My wife and I still laugh about the time we were in traffic in the BGT and a guy who was rolling by slowly shouted over, "Cute car!"
...and then the next time traffic caught up with him he added "...and sporty, too!" with an inflection that suggested he felt he needed to atone for any lack of manliness implied in the first compliment.

My son had come to appreciate the Foxbody Mustang as every time we go out in it people compliment it.
It took me a long time to get used to people complimenting the 1200.

Sitting at a light in my NB Miata some years ago....two guys in the next lane on Harleys....one of them makes a comment, loud enough for me to hear, about a hairdressers car....I look over at him and say "It's not mine.....it's my boyfriends."

Beautifully played!
AW says people routinely say "I know what that is!" about the RS6.
i got one in the SS up in Houghton MI last week. College kid on a bicycle said "That's one of the Holdens, isn't it?" in a tone that was more statement than question. He was stoked to se it was a manual. I was stoked to not stall it launching on a steep uphill. 🤘🏻😎
Fantastic reference!
I love when a random person compliments me on the BRZ.
I went to pick up the kiddo from school and another kid waiting for their ride in the pickup line stated, "that's cooler than a Tesla!", referring to my loud Mustang GT... they might have been 11, but I'll take it.

I know they are somewhat common, but I get lots of attention in my Challenger. It's got the hood scoop, chin spoiler, fade stripes down the side.
Kids, older folks, teenagers...the odd time my wife takes it, she gets even more comments than me, because it's not a car that many women would drive...she doesn't like the car, nor the attention :-)
The attention I get with the Bugeye is hilarious.
Even in an autocross paddock. It's funny being the oldest car by over 20 years.
Today I was test driving it after some mods and within a half mile got two thumbs ups. From a landscaper and a BMW.
My old orange m4 got a lot of attention. Nearly every time I drove it i'd get a thumbs up, someone taking pics, or people coming up to chat at the gas station. Its kinda fun. However I wouldn't do it again for a DD. Its nice to be able to disappear into NPC land.

Right after I bought back my WRX from my friend, the first couple times I drove it I got random compliments. Almost at work, made a left onto Rt 42 and someone at the light yelled "HELL YEAH!" which was interesting. A week or so later going to Meijer for groceries, someone got out across from me and said he loved my car. So yeah, it's kinda nice.

If you dislike attention, never buy an Austin Mini.
The other day I'm driving my somewhat ratty 66 Falcon, enjoying the rasp from the new dual exhaust system, and a guy pulls alongside me on the highway and blows the horn. I recognize him from behind me on the entrance ramp before I romped on it. I look over and he's grinning like a fool and giving me the thumbs up.
It IS good to be a gangsta.

My better half refuses to drive my car. She's worried she will mess it up since it's lowered.
I get a lot of comments, thumbs up, etc when i drive the lifted miata, clown shoe m coupe, or my fb rx7.
A couple weeks ago, i took the very ratty rx7 on an errand in rush hour traffic. I was stuck in some construction zone, and a guy about my age climbs down out of his cement truck and tells me he had an '81, then said "you know you got something!".
5 minutes earlier at Target, i had just had to unplug the rad fan to get it to start on a flat battery.
My go-to move when somebody says, "The NSX is my favorite car!" is to ask them if they want to sit in it, and then snap a pic of them with their phone.
I'm still a little confused as to why guys in their teens and 20's like it so much, but I'm glad it makes them smile.

I spent a week driving my friend's Leyland Mini Commercial. I have never gotten that much attention. Kinda worried somebody would hit me with how hard they stared.
I'll get comments on my ND-RF regularly. Occasionally the 16K mile R53 MINI gets a comment from people who know the cars.
