Well, lets start off to say the only reason I ordered from this company is because they killed everyone's prices. Zerolift (sh*tty local shop) was asking double for what they sold RB25's for. I had contemplated for a while who to order through. I eventually just pulled the trigger and went with the cheaper company (although they had horrible reviews online.) Over the phone, the lady seemed really nice and had even promised me a free starter with my order. They shipped fast, which I was super happy about. The truck dropped my shipment off, and to my surprise the engine looked super clean. I go to look through it more and instantly notice that my wiring harness was hacked up (which I had paid an extra $150 more for) and my starter never came as promised. I filed two warranty claims over the internet with them, which they had COMPLETELY IGNORED. So, I ended up calling them a few times and kept getting the run around every time. I eventually just ended up giving up considering it wasn't a large amount of money.
Well, after quite a bit of headache and some help from my friend Jon, most of the harness was sorted out and the car ran decent. I made some videos on YouTube of my progress on the car and bashed the company a little. A few weeks later the company notices the videos posted and contacts me immediately. They seem very nice and forgiving about the whole situation and tell me to contact them over the phone for a refund. I think about it for a few days and finally go through with it. I should have known to expect the same thing, I got the run around again over the phone. The guy I was talking to over the phone with kept ignoring me and acting like he had no idea what was going on and eventually just transferred me to another line when I was in the middle of talking to him.
Anyways, I'm sure some of you have had interesting experiences with this company. Flame on..
Yep. Screw them. I know of a couple other good companies that i'll be going with. Worth the extra money to get what i actually want.
Sorry for your experience but thanks for letting us know (again!!). Just keep spreading the word and maybe eventually nobody will buy from them anymore.
I am even removing them from my favorites list so I don't eventually talk myself into the fact that maybe everybody else was just unlucky and that it could never happen to me.
So who is a good source for an engine?
Damn, doode, don't you look at the message board here? Does anyone here not know to never buy from jdm Tiger Japanese on Canada? How many people do they have to rip off?
I have not bought from them, but my friend in Bryan, TX who is a professional mechanic and does a lot of engine swaps buys JDM motors from Unitex in Houston, 800-221-0533 or ASAP Motors (nationwide).
Welcome to the Tiger Japanese mud club....
Sorry to hear it, I went through the same thing. Spread the word...
I'm adding my link to move it up...

I'm sorry to hear about your horrible experience with them. I'm just really glad I didn't get shafted too horribly.

Honestly, it depends on what engine you need. If it were a Honda, I wouldn't order from anyone other than www.hmotorsonline.com
I know a lot of Toyota (mostly Corolla) guys prefer a certain company as well. Your best bet is to ask around a forum dealing with your specific car.
Nagasaki Motors is one that i'll be using. There's also one in Chicago that i'm trying to get the name of that a lot of the Mazda guys use.
I've never bought a JDM motor before. I didn't realize they were supposed to be low mileage, etc.
Until my son bought one from Tiger.
I guess he got lucky, his seems fine. But we went there in person and picked it up ourselves. Basically even picked out the engine.
But what did surprise me was how the engine were stored and handled. The engines were just in giant piles. No skids, or racks or any kinda order. Just giant mountains of engines piled on the floor. And when the guy pulled out the engine we wanted, he just hooked a chain onto the heat shield on the exhaust manifold, and yanked it out with a forklift. And then backed the forklift into another pile of engines, shoving them out of the way to maneuver out.
My son was lucky with his engine, though there was some sludge in it, probably from not changing the oil for 35,000 kms. But nothing like pics I've seen in other Tiger slamming posts.
