We are all drivers here. Whether pro, amateur, weekend warrior, or just driving around. We talk about gear for racing all the time. Let's talk about gear for everyday driving. Such as wallets that are properly setup for a drivers license, shoes that work well on long road trips, hideakeys that don't look like hide a keys. Etc. what have you guys found that helps a driver do his thing, that isn't a piece of the car?

I wrap an extra key around trailer wiring with electrical tape.

I use a Coach business card holder for a wallet and keep it in front pocket. No lump to cause back problems, pickpocket resistant and keeps items carried to a minimum. Only problem is Coach no longer sells them (purchased 30 years ago). I like Piloti low tops until snow and ice season and summer.

Vans Sk8-Hi Pros. $70, with awesome arch support and wafer-thin soles with great grip so you can feel everything the pedals are trying to tell you. Classic, versatile, cheap, and great for driving. Who knew?

Also, when I had my truck, I scotch-taped a spare key between the metal rear bumper and the center step pad. Nobody would have ever looked there, and the key wouldn't get lost.

I like driving in low top chucks.

Current wallet is an id holder. License+2 or 3 cards is all I need day to day. It is actually a Rustico "primitive wallet". 3 layers of leather. Works either back or front pocket.

Im going to have to listen here for a better wallet option, mine is a literal pain in the ass after a drive any longer than 30 min.

Since I've gotten old, I find I need a good solid shoe for my feet. I usually wear Oxfords outside of work, and steel-toe boots at work. Anything else, and my feet hurt very soon.

However,

I built the Lethal Locost ten years ago when my feet didn't hurt so easily, and the Oxfords don't really fit the pedal box - so I wear skate shoes to drive it.

For a wallet, I use a basic tri-fold. Sits in the front pocket with the car keys next to it (wallet isn't overly thick, so it's not uncomfortable in a front pocket and it keeps the keys from moving around and stabbing my leg).

Probably shouldn't reveal it, but GRM has been so good to me over the years: Hide-a-key - go buy a pop up sprinkler from your local hardware store. $.50-$1. Unscrew the cap, dump the guts. Put it somewhere on your lawn.

Also use this fella every single day. Best $3 I've ever spent, though it's over $5 now.

I use the "Viper Titanium Money clip". Before it I used rubber bands from lobster claws. It was my cash register when driving cab for bills $20 in ones plus $20s, $50s, $100s and various cards. I hate bulk in my pockets especially when doing 13 hr shifts all week. This money clip is worth the cost if you want something that is indestructible thin and lightweight.

For long car rides I wear flip flops or no shoes. Vans $30 slip ons with the foam inserts pulled out. They are good garage/shop shoes too if you don't have to deal with osha

For my keys I cut the big heads off the tops, or just the plastic depending. Then drilled holes and just ran a screw and nut through. Before the house keys would wear holes in the pockets. Afterwards I couldn't tell if I had them or not. Put a lanyard string on them to visually verify they are there.

$5 dickies uv resistant aviation style sunglasses.

~1000 lumen (not the bs ebay amazon ratings) xml2 18650 flash light $20 comes in handy for checking broken stuff and finding addresses as well as signalling AAA tow guys and lighting up LEOs ticket pads better I glued a hdd neodymium magnet to mine and heat shrink tubed it too. I can stick it to metal stuff or bite the heat shrink tube without breaking my teeth.

tomtom gps are a must when driving the city. You can get away with a smart phone for here and there trips but not finding address all day long. Tomtom uses google maps and lets your correct errors on the maps like no other brand.

RainX for outside glass.

purell and microfiber for cleaning the inside glass

I like CG locks for the seat belts for shorter fun rides

Puma speed cats, magnetic money clip and a thin id holder for cc's and license and a pair of raybans I found at a gas station ten years ago. Looking for a thin metal card holder to replace the very beat id holder. The current id holder bends a little too much and beats up the cc's.

Dunno why, but I love driving with leather gloves on.

I've shopped those shoes more than once, but the Ferrari emblem kept me from pulling the trigger.

For me it's my low top black vans. Not fancy but they work great.

Wallet in the front pocket is the way to go. Mine is one of those aluminum anti-scan deals. Got it for Christmas so I don't have much choice until it wears out.

No way could I put a wallet in my front pocket.

That just seems like the one thing that would send my whole world into a tail spin. Like some kind of sick twisted alternate reality.

I drive in whatever shoes I want to wear for wherever I'm going. I only wear "driving" shoes when i'm at the track or driving a rally. My wallet goes in the center console when I'm driving (next to my phone) and in my back pocket when I'm not.

I put keys on a carabiner, so when they're not in the ignition, they're either clipped to a belt loop or to my work bag. Haven't lost my keys in 15 years.

I keep a set of good sunglasses in the glovebox for those rainy days when I forget my main ones at home and it turns sunny by the time I'm out of work.

Can give us a visual on this? I am interested but can't figure out how this doesn't just have a bolt head poking your leg all day.

I have found yellow or amber lenses give greater visibility in cloudy or foggy conditions.

I wear a big loose shirt for work but a tight stretchy undershirt. It's good for your posture to wear one. (Physical therapy studies bear this out BTW, I'm not making it up)

I make no special considerations for normal driving except to empty my back pockets into the door pocket so I'm not sitting on them.

No special shoes, gloves, hats or key rings. In fact, I don't even have a key ring. Just one key for each vehicle I snag from the tray on the way to that vehicle. Because I berkeleying hate having all the keys hanging on the ignition and jingling over bumps. Oh... wait... That's one thing I guess.

I gave up on the wallet. I carry a credit card tool with a loop of paracord around it and that holds my ID, CC's and so on.

Cash just gets folded into a large paper clip in a front pocket.

I have tried it a few different ways but currently I just filed down the screw/bolt heads. Another good way (if you arent always pulling keys off the ring) is to use some brake line as a rivet. Below are some variations one with a bend/cut up worm drive hose clamp, one with a filed down bolt head. Nothing that is patent worthy but still fun to play around with.

Its impossible to heal-toe, proper, in and FR-S, in work boots.

Usually I wear boat shoes for long trips because I can kick them off and they drive surprisingly well.
However, if I wear crocs in my wife's FJ Cruiser they make my feet wide enough that I can heel toe it, which I can't do in any other shoes.
