Just a thought, but wouldn't a modern super-sport sled engine be a potentially better candidate for a car project? Most, if not all of them, have reverse, and I hear that the CVTs are pretty robust.

I think that is the first time that has ever been said on GRM.

R1's happen to love boost, rods are good enough to about the 300hp mark it seems.I turbo'd a 4ag in my AE86 using a set of RX1 sled carbs(same as the R1 but better carb mounting angle)and the vacuum slide mikunis are very easy to tune with boost and cost next to nothing compared with buying injectors and standalones for fuel injected versions.Turbobike.net I believe is the site your looking at for info plus theres a lot of info on the R1 forum in the turbo tuning database thread. On paper sled power makes sense but sound like E36 M3 and no fun banging up/down the gears, strangely my ice race car is R1 powered and my summer race car is sled powered.
PowergearPerformance,LLC is current testing a reverson box they developed in the US. Their unit (the "R-Falcon") comes with a manual "overdrive" gear for short trip crusing or alternatively they can install "reduction" gearing.
so you have : 1:1 forward 1:1.25 manual overdrive reverse

Interesting... Feel free to correct me, but I presume your gearbox is built with rear wheel drive in mind, what with the single output flange/spline. Any plans to put together a FWD unit? Need a beta tester?
