This engine and transmission intrigues me as a possible swap into an MGB where the GM V6 is a natural fit. The gearbox that is attached is an 8 speed auto and I can see leaving it right where it is since it is already integrated into the electronics

Would love to know if it would fit under the bonnet. Any of you out there have a late model cady and a tape measure?

Can not help but considdering what the final result would be I would make it fit even if it ment a tubular frount clip.

I'd guess it will be too tall.

Anybody measured the height of an MGBs engine to compare?

Me too. Direct Injection takes up a lot of head room in the engine bay. That's why you don't often see Mazdaspeed3 engines swapped into other cars. Plus you would need to adapt the factory ECU (and possibly instrument panel) into the recipient car, or have a standalone ECU and a tuning shop that work with DI engines.

The electronics are a concern. Same as the Direct Injection. However, I see that people are already tuning the computers, so it seems manageable.

The height is the question since I hate scoops.

if you can do some fabrication, the intake could be repositioned to the side of the engine instead of ontop. I also think an MGC hood (or a replica of) would help a lot

Bit more info.

The thing is 30" tall! It's a bleeping skyscraper compared to a 302 or LS engine.

The good news is that they can be managed by the aftermarket tuners. I had a response from one that I contacted."

"...Hi Peter,

Yes, we can certainly do this, but we currently do not support '13 CTS LFX, so it'd have to be sourced from a '12 model.

All you really have to do is order a tune through our store and specify that it is an engine swap into a different vehicle.

You can view pricing and order the tune here:

We strongly recommend retaining the factory intake system for builds like this, or in cases where that's not possible, at least keeping the same diameter MAF tube as stock.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

I was referred to your site for possible information on tuning GM’s new LFX engines. I see where you offer power tuning for this platform.

What I want to do is swap one of these engines complete with automatic transmission and GM controller from a Cadillac CTS in to a Hot Rod. Does Trifecta have the firmware needs for such swaps available?

Is it possible to get a rough idea of what you charge for such work?"

Thanks.

At first I was like, "Wow, that Lexus LF-X doesn't look wild enough to make those beautiful sounds" then I was like "oh... it's just a GM V6" but then I was like "Gosh, it makes 323 hp & 278 lbft"

Here are the basic dimensions from the MG experience site: Bottom of oil pan to top of valve cover 24 inches. Front of balancer to back of block 24 inches. Width of block at widest point, no accessories (carbs, manifolds, distributor, etc.) 12 inches.

The B has a pretty small engine. If there are any other measurements you need, I have a 75 B at home I can measure.
