I'd say lancer ralliart, but they're 162hp and not auto.

Specs say FWD only, non-turbo. Doesn't specify I4 or V6 though...

What you want is an early Acura Legend sedan. 151hp, SOHC 2.5 V6, common automatic.

No neons? Cause they kick too much ass, rigbt?

What about a boosted k-car? Diwnsuze the turbo for instant spiol, lock the converter with a toggle switch, and drive it like a stick.

My other thought would be a saturn sl1. Weight nothing, worth even less in my area.

No turbos allowed either, otherwise there would be a number of "easy button" options

Funny. First thing comes to mind is the Neon, and they're excluded???!!! I'd like to hear the logic behind that rule.

Needs to be FWD.

FWD only, man. And sadly almost all of the FWD auto Imprezas are the 1.8 instead of the 2.2, otherwise those would be a good option.

2nd Gen SHO with the auto? They are 3.0 right?

The autos were 3.2L and also all SHOs are DOHC.

Audi 90 FWD auto would be a decent choice as well, assuming you can find one of the damn things. Subaru Legacy FWD auto would be good as well, they all had the 2.2 unlike the Impreza.

89 Civic Si. Give up the power, but you lose weight and gain suspension. It will beat a pig with 160 horses all day long.

what about an early 90's Stanza? 2.4L KA24 (still SOHC), auto, yada, yada, yada. Only 138hp though.

Sounds like the class was designed around Chevy Cavaliers, to me. Either an earlier 3.1 model, or a later Quad4 engined model.

My suggestion is to go spectate a few times and see what types of cars consistently do well.

Suzuki SX4 2.0 is all aluminum and DOHC and 150hp and should be pretty easy to bring up to ~160 with a tune from what I hear.

Around here under similar rules the answer is Chevy Barretta with 3.1L engine.

Sundance with 3.0L also popular.

I think there is a version of Honda Prelude which is also popular under similar rules. Like a base engine version of Prelude with automatic.

Edit: Oops, 4 doors required for import.

The no dohc restriction looks to only apply to imports, so quad-4, SHO, and Saturns should be allowed.

Problem with the SHO is that all of the automatics are 3.2L, so they're out on displacement. I think you're onto something with the Quad4 or Saturn though.

I'm basically reading this rule set as deliberately making imports as uncompetitive as possible...imports have to be SOHC sedans under 2.5L, but domestics get up to 3.1L and as many cams as you want as long as it has back seats and isn't a Neon? Sheesh!

Ford ZX2 with the Zetec suddenly seems like a pretty solid choice. Heck, if you can find a beat up auto '03-04 Focus with the 2.3 Duratec, I don't think there's a single vehicle that would do better...

Rules say no Dodge neon. However there are Plymouths and Chryslers.

Just trying to make your brain hurt some more.
