One of my favorite cars of all time, even money no object, is the B7 RS4 as an all-weather DD. A B7 RS4 drivetrain in a car that weighs less than 1300kg would be insane.
Production car or not, can you think of any lightweight V8 AWDs? Coupe, roadster, sedan, shooting brake, doesn't matter.
Light weight? No. Only few I can think of are Euro-Luxomobiles all in the 4K LBs range.
I would totally rock an M5 CS if someone else was footing the bill though.
Aluminum LS with a Subarugears adapter to an STi 6-speed. Choose your chassis. Some assembly required.
Production wise... 2018 Lamborghini Huracan Performante is probably the lightest I can think of. But still way heavier than your 1300kg.
Jag F-Type R is one of the lighter attainable V8 AWD cars I know of and it's still around 1780kg
None production, I think Palatov is the way to go with the Hartly V8.

A local German auto repair shop has a 2007 RS4 for sale. I happened to drive by the other day so I stopped to take a quick look, it appears to be a nice car. They're asking $26k for it, but I have no idea if that's a fair price or not. https://www.germanautoworksmn.com/vdp/18618754/Used-2007-Audi-RS-4-4dr-Sdn-for-sale-in-St-Louis-Park-MN-55416

Price seems OK, especially as they didn't sell many in the US.
How much does a Jensen FF weigh?
Audi R8 is V8 AWD...

Not only was the Huracan Performante not light at just shy of 3400 lbs wet it drove like a much heavier car. Don't get me wrong it was awesome but it wasn't nimble or light.
Spyker C8 is the Audi V8 in a 2700 pound package. Not light, but @800 pounds lighter than the R8 it's usually in.
In reply to Steve_Jones :
I believe RWD only though?
In reply to EDT (Forum Supporter) :
For some reason I thought they were, maybe just assumed it because of the Audi power train.
I do know a guy who fitted the whole S4 2.7T drivetrain in a Mk2 Golf/Rabbit. And the S4 V8 etc in a Corrado. Lightness abounds, but the subframes did bolt in the front ok IIRC
Once you put that drivetrain in something light, it ends up pretty heavy.

Beautiful car--I'd say that of course. Miles too high for me though.

The M5 CS is amazing, obviously. However, there is nothing like a light and nimble, high-torque car with buttery smooth power delivery. One of my customers who has an example of every imaginable, modern performance car variant sold his M5 CS and kept cars like, believe it or not the new Civic type R, i20N, Exige V6, 992 GT3, Suzuki Jimny and NC Mx-5 LS3.

This is incredible based on a post I saw on LS1tech some time ago. It was a mammoth amount of work though.

What an extreme machine this D1PPS! Wow. I wonder how it compares to a comparable RWD car in wet and dry.

It was also powered by a V10, not a V8

Your customer wouldn't happen to be flying to Colorado to pick up his new Miata this weekend, would he?
Land Rover Series 3 Stage 1 starts in the 3500 lb range :)

Not light weight but might get you toward a desired hp/weight ratio and also highly overlooked...
Infiniti M56 (renamed Q70 5.6) in rwd or awd is 5.6L of hottened up Titan Pickup truck motor making 420 hp in a 4,100 lb (1900 kg) sleeper that looks like a tarted up Altima.

Too much - around 4,000 lbs. Plus now ultra rare.
Now this one would have been a pretty interesting production car:
https://www.jensenmuseum.org/fff-100-gkns-four-wheel-drive-titan/
Under 3400 lbs., 600 bhp Chrysler 426 Hemi, held the 0-100-0 record for 31 years.
In reply to SSATB :
As a prior owner of a LS Swapped NC, I believe it. It would run and hide from a M5 CS at 2800 LB wet and 410WHP. Damn I miss that car.

My bad on the V10 vs V8 for the Huracan.
But have we determined a V8 (or even V10 - oops) AWD production car that is lighter?
