We had a '95 S10 donated to the school shop with a blown transmission.

I had a really good kid interested, and offered that if he showed up with a "Rebuild In a Box" for the transmission and rebuilt it, I would give him the truck. After a few weeks hemming and hawing it over, his parents wouldn't go for it. So....

~I~ ordered the kit, and tore into it. Two smoked clutch packs, and a torn lip seal. Suspicious?

The seal looks sheared off. I'm thinking failed install by somebody; I don't think lip seals fail this way by themselves.

At any rate, it's going together well. Hopefully have it back together by the end of the semester, then sell it and make some money for my program. Easily a $2500 truck in these parts.

Someone ram and jammed that together. Take your time and air check the pack when you are done, should be ok.

It's a GM, anything is possible.

About the only things else needed are a beast sun shell and corvette servos.

It's going back onto a stock 4.3 and then I'll flip it, so no high-end stuff in here. I bought the "rebuild-in-a-box" from Makco Transmission Parts. It came with the 'Vette servos and a heavy duty sun shell. The intention is to make some money for my Mechanics program.

i did similar assembling my first 700r4. cut the 3-4 seal enough installing that it air tested fine but as soon as the first shift from 2-3 was supposed to happen it blew.
