And some photos from today’s BMW M Endurance Challenge.
Before the race:
And I guess this counts as the Rolex weekend: a photo of our Porsche 911 at last night’s Hagerty/Brown & Brown hangar party:
Seeing all these pictures makes me sad. Wish I was there. My son and I always went to the GRM experience but this year opted out because it wasn't there. The want is strong though so I guess I'll have to get back in the rotation for 2025.
Watch out for #43 Porsche GTD one of the drivers is the son of a corner worker I worked with 40+ years ago.
I turn 60 in February 2026.
I think attending Rolex that year sounds like a hell of a birthday present to myself. Gotta cross it off the bucket list.
Go ahead and sign the start/finish line, but if you sign the wall, you're just making this guy come and spray paint over it.
I'm trying a slightly new spot for the start this year. Usually I'm down by turn 1 in the grandstands, but I'm going to see what it's like from just a few yards down from the starter stand.
Watching the start, makes me think how hard it is, mentally, to start an endurance race in terms of aggression. This is the time that the field is so close and you can make up places, but more important, if you make a mistake, you can lose the race, and waste a whole 24 hour opportunity.
Makes 24 hour races really special.
Gah! Misha!
I co-drove with Misha for a few races. He is the embodiment of checkers or wreckers.
He is one of the funniest people I have ever met.
Hopefully he is okay!
