Just hopped in the Lexus to move it out of the way and, yeah, I do dig it.
It’s the details:
While it has a lot of buttons, they have legible labels and deliver a satisfying click.
The interior of the center console bin is fitted with in the softest felt-like substance.
The trunk is fully trimmed out.
The paddle shifters are present but not in the way. (Looking at you, Alfa Romeo Stelvio.)
And that ubiguitous Toyota cruise control stalk does feel like home:
This car really made me miss the heydays of the personal luxury coupe. If you were a rich a-hole in a late '80s movie, you absolutely drove a 6 Series or a Jag XJ-S or a Benz SEC and wore a sport coat with no tie and were probably James Spader or Paul Gleason and pointed at people with your index and middle finger together. This is absolutely the spiritual successor to that car, and it's just kind of a shame that the market for them doesn't exist anymore.
It's just really satisfying and "right sized." Big enough to have presence, but small enough to navigate the executive parking lot in the financial district. great ergonomics that make you feel like you're driving a performance car, but enough comfort that you could happily head to the Hamptons or the Cape for the weekend.

I don't know why that made me laugh so hard. Having just come back from the cape, I saw exactly 0 of these. Lots and lots of Volvos though
