Tom Suddard said:Oh, I did make one last stop on my way out of the site: I had to visit the door I cut up last night! The team said they knocked down the sharp edges with a flap wheel, but in daylight I'd say my work holds up.
This paddock spot will be easy to find for the next 15 years because it will have an orange hue from all the rusty metal dust embedded in the pavement.

Worth noting that Rob leads the class while co-driver Tommy Pulliam is in 2nd. Third place is held down by Slyler Sisson in Rob's old '65 Mustang. So it's currently a Lewis lockout on the podium in CP.
When I started autocrossing, E Prepared was dominated by Civics. All these years later, glad to see that’s still the case–although wishbone Civics have replaced the torsion bar Civics.
Patrick Washburn is leading the class after Day 1.

Video from our friend Tane of Tom Ellam’s XB-class Mazda RX-3, although I don’t see any starts for it.
The POS2000 got it's 3rd open class championship with Wes Hughson driving. It also has 2 ladies class championships. I got my 3rd podium this year, and Randall Wilcox secured the 4th place trophy in XP in it after Lafwanda had car problems.
It's interesting to see how classes evolve over time. My first nationals in 2019 we ran in SS and that year AS outran SS on raw time which wasn't uncommon at the time. This year, outrunning AS didn't even guarantee you a trophy in SS. The late 2010s were pretty much peak AS but there isn't exactly a lack of talent there now. Likewise, a lot of the names at the top of SS were there back then, but the drivers have evolved and figured out cars and setup better. Most impressive is how much the "second tier" drivers have improved, as evidenced by the time required just to get the last trophy spot. The upper third of the class were all basically right on top of each other.

Interesting note. The Grassroots Motorsports sticker on a magnet on this GS 177 is over 20 years old!
Time for some Thursday/Friday national champs.
