My wife found me some summer weight work pants used off the E. 1/2 price, decent shape.
I got her a Beta fish. That pretty much busted the budget.
Meet Mr Fishy:

We were going to get some community fish this time, but couldn't afford the loan...surprise

at $9.95, he was "cheaper" than his brethren, but also the prettiest.

I sort of went off the deep end and started spending money on the C5 project car again like a drunken sailor.  Well no one else was going to buy these things for me anyways.

A set of Apex EC-7 wheels with a pair of front Michelin Pilot Sports.  Front and rear Wilwood caliper kits along with front and rear Girodisc 2-pcs rotors. Once the credit card cools off and re-solidifies, I will order a pair of matching Michelin rears.  Both the SKF Tracker-X bearings and HD late C6 spindles (those were birthday gifts to myself from a few months ago) are already waiting out in the garage.  I can't wait to start wrenching again this coming spring, its been a long three year period with the recovery from four orthopedic surgeries wink

Does Dave still hold Dave Meets? I guess they aren't really RX-7 meets anymore, are they?  I want a ride in this when you are done, for project car values of "done"

I think think that COVID and his job changes put the kibosh on the informal gathering at his place, but maybe/hopefully this year?  I stay in touch with him and he has driven the C5 project.  I hope to make it out to his place again after the latest round of modifications.  Plus I have a couple of shelves in the garage with FC RX-7 parts that I need to denote to his "museum" stash/collection.

Late gift I received on the way home from SWMBO and kiddo. I got notice my latest costume got approved. Ready for outdoor troops when it gets cold eventually.

We kept it low-key this year, mainly because we are doing this:

We are about 8 months into a complete teardown/rebuild of our house. I did get a few things to hang in my new "game room" and a surround sound setup for the living room for when it's completed, so that was cool.

Looks and sounds like y'all got some great things!

I got the joy of seeing my kids get things they asked for and they are such great kids, they earned/deserved it. My oldest got a new accoustic guitar and my youngest got an electronic drum set. Plus they got all kinds of new legos. All things I can play with too.

My ex-gf that kicked me to the curb back in September has still refused to give me back my personal artifacts which include years and years of Christmas tree ornaments my kids have made, which are both priceless and irreplaceable (also makes my ex-wife more angry than she already is all the time). My oldest daughter must have overhead me telling my mom or a friend about it and her and my other daughter made me like 50 Christmas tree ornaments for Christmas and if that wasn't the best gift I could have ever asked for, I don't know what else is.

I don't really believe in karma or wishing ill-will upon people; however, I do wish that some people meet versions of themselves in the future so that reality sets it and they can have life lesson time too.

RyanGreener - I hate it when that happens.

Material things: I got a Garmin Catalyst and a new pair of hiking boots.

Immaterial things: I didn't have to deal with anyone telling me how to enjoy my Christmas. Nobody constantly telling me to have a glass of wine. Nobody fishing for compliments for my BIL/SIL. Nobody interrupting my conversations because they need to be the center of attention. Instead we were able to make the day about the kids (even though they are all adults now). We got together with our favorite portion of my wife's family and had a great time.

I wish I could say I'd never accidentally bought a car. Virtually every car I've owned says that's a lie.

It's so cliche, but seeing my daughter open her presents gave me a new level of joy that was missing from too many of my previous Christmases.

Honestly, I wasn't even thinking of getting a car but this car was just absurdly cheap for what it was and I figured at 34 years old I might as well get a nice car instead of driving tin cans and beaters.

In reply to CAinCA :

The immaterial is honestly the most important part of "surviving" the holidays. This year, we also had some major changes.

My closest aunt passed away suddenly a couple weeks ago. In the past, we used to get together every Christmas Eve at her and my uncle's place, and later on, one of her son's houses when my uncle passed away a few years back. But when she passed, we had to sort-of bump things up a couple days and get together for the services. Not ideal at all, but we at least got to see each other and a lot of the extended family we don't get to see often. Wish it was under better circumstances, but I'll look on the bright side of this. Next year will definitely be better, although we will miss her and my uncle in the coming years; they were the best.

Also, we had other members of my family decide they didn't want to see us this year. And it was honestly a blessing. Less drama, more fun, and no stress. Addition by subtraction!
