Moved here for my new job
and I would appreciate some pointers - we haven't got a garage yet and the wife's Cherokee needs some work.
If anybody could recommend any of the following I'd much appreciate it:
- A decent bodyshop. I'd like good quality work but I don't need a restoration place. Cherokee wants the drivers door and a wing sorted out, plus some paint
- A good 'general' mechanic for servicing work etc.
- Maybe a Corvette specialist...
I'd rather pay a few more bucks and get good work, plus we tend to be loyal customers. And with the E36 M3 vehicles I tend to buy, that might just keep them in business
.
Can't help you with shops, but driving down to Reno for the Harrah museum would be worth the trip.
+1 to ^. I will ask my FIL if knows anyone out there, but I think his knowlage will be mostly in the Reno area.
You are going to love the roads out there, the mountains are a great place to play.
when you get settled check this place out: Bodie, California

Bodie is a ghost town in the Bodie Hills east of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in Mono County, California, United States, about 75 miles (120 km) southeast of Lake Tahoe. It is located 12 miles (19 km) east-southeast of Bridgeport,[4] at an elevation of 8379 feet (2554 m).[1] As Bodie Historic District, the U.S. Department of the Interior recognizes it as a National Historic Landmark. The ghost town has been administered by California State Parks since becoming a state historic park in 1962, and receives about 200,000 visitors yearly.[5]" Very cool.
I have nothing to add other than Carson City is a pretty good name for a city if you ask me
and you'll be met with some blank stares if you take your Jeep in and say the "wing needs some sorting." ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/crazy-18.png)
Been to Bodie a couple of times already
and the Harrah museum is on the list, too...
I'd rather drive to Reno for a known good shop if necessary than trying to find one by trial and error, but if that's the way...
My FIL said he used this place in the past and liked it: http://diamondautobodyreno.com/
I would guess it is not too pricey knowing how tight he likes to hang on to his money. ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/grin-18.png)
Thanks, I'll check them out!
