I hear all of your comments. It's just that I have this weird thing to own weird cars at some point in my life. RHD is one of them, owning a column-shift manual at some point is one also. Don't know why, I'm just fascinated with cars that are controlled in a completely different manner.

The car would be useful- once my current sedan daily-driver dies, I'm in the market for either a wagon or big hatchback, as I haul a fairly large road case and other audio gear on a regular basis, and the sedan just doesn't cut it.

Darwin- forgot about that part of the swap. Oh well, it's sort of beyond my capacity at this point anyway- my workshop is a gravel driveway, and my landlord is already thrilled that I work on my car(s) in it.

I'm going to give the place a call, if they want $2000, forget it. If they want $700, why not? It's a useful car that only happens to be RHD.

Yea, just called the place. Asking $3995, it has 131,000 miles. I should say that, just from what I could see poking under/around the car, the hood had a dent, one headlight wasn't bolted to anything, the muffler was rusting through, the front brake rotors were junk, and it only has two good tires. After bringing this up, along with the fact that I was expecting a lower price, and the fact that no one will want a twelve-year-old RHD car, the price dropped to $3000. Still way more than I was willing to pay. Oh well, the search for strange cars continues

Why not just offer what you are willing to pay? I can't imagine that there is a large market for JDM Saturn wagons.

I don't know... if I was in that dealer's position, I wouldn't move on the price too much. It still has some value for its intended purpose. The mail in many rural areas is still delivered in non-USPS vehicles.

Sure. Which is why he may turn down an offer. But I'd still make it if I were actually interested.

RHD car in a LHD country is the dumbest thing ever

I'd rock RHD. A friend of mine with a great stable of vehicles both two wheeled and four has a RHD MGB GT and says it's a great way to meet girls in traffic. And you get funny looks when you go through the bank drive-up in reverse.

That's enough for me.

How else are you going to high-speed high-five when you and your friend are driving separate cars? See, it's practical, too.
