Seems kinda boy-racerish with those flares, not sure about those wheels.

What kind of racing would you be doing with the car? The good is that the Gen III EA888 has had most of the kinks ironed out and can make very solid power with intake/exhaust/ tune. Also plenty of after market support on the suspension side as well. MK7 aren't too heavy for a modern car either, and it looks like this one doesn't have the massive panoramic sunroof. I'm sure you could build a pretty serious time attack car with this car as a starting point, buy it all depends on how far you're willing to go.
x2 for what kind of racing
As mentioned, the engine is stout and reliable these days. (Doesn't hurt that it makes 300+ whp with just a tune). But again it depends what racing you'll be doing. NASA TT and SCCA TA are a good option. If you stick to the Gridlife style time attack rules you will get absolutely lit on fire in the street class by CTR's and Veloster N's. You might be able to make a good case for it in the street mod class.

I don't know. I think it gives it a bit of a touring car look. Definitely could pull it off with the right set of vinyls. Maybe my judgement is being clouded by the amount of rubber I'm assuming is being hidden by those flares.
TCR cars are fun and honestly they look a lot better in person. I'd love to have one. I'm not a good enough driver to drop the $110K or so they run though.
Last week I went and test drove a MK7 2017 sport(with standard performance pack) equipped with a DSG. I was evaluating it as a replacement for my 2017 Focus ST. Great cars, thoroughly enjoyed how it drove around town and the DSG makes some weird choices with upshifts and waiting to downshift, but does what you want when you command for a shift.
Want to drive one in autox to feel the diff in action.
That looks like a brand new TCR car to me. Is it DSG or paddle shift? They are 2 different animals in TCR. Who runs TCR as GT1, it is wrong wheel drive. GT2 maybe?
edit, I read GTI as GT1

That back corner looks goofy as hell.
I totally approve of a crazy amount of rubber.
I'm getting very small amount of these vibes from this MK7. Slap a big old wing on it and you're 37% of the way there. The world needs more DTM stlye cars in my estimation.

Look real close in the photo, it has the standard issue TCR wing, its just black, so does not show well in the pic.
