Going to go look at a 1990 Mercedes Benz 190E AKA WB201

Photos portray the car as well kept, thoughts/warnings ? Appears to be the 6 cyl with 135k on the odo & a radio code locked at the moment...

Look for rust in the rear wheel wells. My 87 rusted through horribly there. I loved mine, it had the 16 valve cosworth engine so I can't comment on the six cylinder.

The IRS is not cheap to rebuild however, so make sure that's all tight.

Just W201.

In NY, I would check thoroughly for rust. Ours came from AZ rust free, but I've seen a few rusty ones in the junk yards here in NC. 90s cars seem pretty good.

Manual or auto?

I will say, if it has any kind of idle/cold start/whatever issue, you don't want to berkeley with it. If it has any tranny issue, you don't want to berkeley with it.

Parts are expensive. Sixer should have more stuff available, since it came in a number of models.

I'm a lover of MB's, but I think the reality might be that an E30 is easier to own. It checks the boxes of reliable sixer, manual, IRS, handles. Hindsight being 20/20, if I'd had the experiences with a 190 that I now have, my girlfriend would daily a 325e or some such car.
