You should never see more than 1psi in the exhaust system.

hmmmm.  google says 4-8psi in a stock exhaust system.  I'm mostly just thinking that a hose clamp isn't going to deform the steel muffler enough to make a tight fit on the existing exhaust pipe.  The acceleration forces, alone, might be enough to sling it off.

o2 sensor has been working fine so far.

When I raced at Waterford Hills we had to comply with the local sound ordinance. I ran a Flowmaster on my VW GTI and was well under the threshold.
