The original front seats in my 1984 Jaguar XJ6 have seen better days. The foam is pretty smashed, the leather on the bottom is coming apart at the stitching, etc. I still have to explore the possibility of having them repaired/reupholstered, but I'm also fairly handy with a welder/grinder and am tossing around the idea of swapping in some front seats from a (relatively) newer car.
They must be black leather and bucket style as my Jag has a center console; therefore no bench seats from a Lincoln/Cadillac, etc. Doesn't need to be sporty, just comfortable and durable.
I would prefer manual seats, but would entertain power seats as long as they're simple to retrofit - no external switch panels mounted on doors or dashboards. Ideally I want to be able to just feed the seat harness fused 12V/Gnd and operate them from a seat mounted switch. I believe that rules out Mercedes seats as they have controls on the doors. E39s and the like are pretty common but I believe those seat controls run through the window switch?
This gentleman put XJ40 seats in his XJ6 but it requires externally mounted switches, which I'd rather not do. I would also rather weld up some new mounting brackets rather than hack up the unibody.
