At 80mph? I doubt it, unless they swapped a 3.63 rear end or something. That motor is screaming at 80mph. I get like... 23mpg highway out of my NB, but i'm not sure i count. Either way, still sucks.

The NB (99/00 at least) go open loop at about 4000 RPM, and milage drops like a rock. IIRC, mine used to be something like 29 mpg at 70, 25 at 80.

Strangely, I can't get more than about 19 out of it any more. Must be something to do with the 550cc/minute injectors and 260 hp at the wheels... :)

I don't know how you define flogging, but on the track I get around 14 (Homestead, Sebring).

80mph indicated is ~4300 in my car, and is keeping up with traffic flow. GPS says its closer to 76mph. The car is stock. I have noticed no measureable difference between hard and soft tops. I think it would do better if I had cruise control, which is the only option I wish my sport package car had.

You're making me feel a bit better about my MPG now... i have a similar setup... 550cc injectors, and in the same ballpark for power.

A MSM with a Hydra should be quite good for fuel economy - we've seen those over 30 on the highway on long trips. Check your targets. The size of the injectors isn't important if they're controlled right and you're not at the limits of their pulse width abilities.

Heh, i don't really know what any of that means, (well, i do... but i'm not familiar enough with Hydra to even want to look into it) which is why i had Jeremy go through it when i was out there. Haven't touched it since.

One also needs supreme willpower to control one's right foot.

I got that willpower pretty quick when i figured out that the car will do 70mph to "we're skipping the ticket and just giving you a rubber hose beating" in top gear in a matter of seconds.

Still doesn't do anywhere near 30mpg on the highway. Think there's other issues at play. Dropping it off to a local speed shop next month, we'll see what happens.
