Hello Group,
I'm looking at a 1968(69) BMW track car to rescue and I'm trying to establish the car's history for an accurate restoration. Unfortunately, there is no title, logbook or SCCA numbers stamped found on the cage. It was originally from North Carolina, then came out to the Midwest. It appears to be an ITA, with SCCA decals and a few sponsors ( I've contacted, no response) it probably started out participating in regional SCCA (or BMWCCA) events in the 80's, 90's-?? I've attached a few pics of the car, any information would be deeply appreciated. Thank you for your time and consideration.-Bill
I know the 2002's ran in ITA, so this would probably be ITB at best. The 73 Corolla SR-5 that my dad and I ran was an ITC car with the 2-TC 1600cc.
There is an IT forum but it's moribund, the Production forum may help and one last thought try pm ing user Greg Amy on this forum he runs the Production forum and was the equivalent of an Uber Dork on the IT forum.

As mententined 1600s were ITB cars.
Silly question but have you tried calling the sponsor on the side of the car??
That number shows as if it may be in service.

If it raced in SCCA it should have numbers stamped on roll cage. If I remember correctly the first two numbers are the region.

Lol found that too but didn't want to completely put that out there.
In reply to Tom1200 : Thank you for the reply. I thought it was an ITB, but this one has a fuel injected tii m10 (ITA). It could have originally been an ITB (at one time). I reached out to the sponsor(s) but no response yet. The history search continues...

If, it is a 1600 it will not have a hydraulic clutch. Yes it could have been changed to a 2002 configuration. There are subtle differences in the cars, pictures are easier than drying to describe them. The front clip might have been changed over the years. Good luck and congratulations on the rescue! David
