So, I have never done anything with turbos or nitrous oxide. I'm looking for some recommendations on books, websites etc to learn about both.
Maximum Boost by Corky Bell has been recommended to me already.

Maximum Boost is very good on theory, but getting old now, so think about new technologies that weren't available when it was written.. Unfortunately, I have nothing else to suggest for you, aside from selective reading online
Well, there's Dr.Hess' observations on how people tune their turbocharged cars on teh 1ntr4w3bs, y0:
Crank up the boost. Dump fuel into it until it's pig rich. Start leaning it out until the crown from one of the pistons blows out the exhaust port, then rich it up one notch and you're there.

I shot soda out of my nose and I wasn't even drinking any o_O
Check out "Street Turbocharging," by Mark Warner, IMHO it's much better than Maximum Boost (I own both.) Book linky

proper book, but Dizzam look at the price.

Book shmook. What are you throwing nitrous at?

Figured as much, but didn't want to ASSume. Do you already have the kit? I'm really fond of the ZEX kit. There's not much farting around with jets involved. We tried several combinations, but found that the recommended jets worked best. This was on a stock internal 180,000 mile EW4 in our $2004 challenger. Integra (D16A1) ECU and injectors, and an in-line electric fuel pump.
After several butt-dyno runs, we took it to the dyno to try different jets, get it on a wideband, etc. The 55 (there's a 65 and 75 with the kit also) shot was actually the best as far as getting power all the way through the RPM range. It wanted to go a little lean at the top, but crushing the regulator slightly with a socket remedied that.
With no other mods (other than the ecu, injectors, and lightening,) it put out 135hp and 153 foot pounds of torque (no, I didn't get the numbers backwards:) - and stayed slightly rich throughout the rpm range. This was good for pretty consistent 13.9's on drag radials, with the shifter rigged to activate the nitrous win you pulled second.
Anyway, the same motor has had about a gazillion drag runs on it with no problems.
Get your kit, get to the dyno, and save yourself all the "in theory" garbage...then again, I'm probably the kid that Hess is talking about. But, then again, we're talking about a "disposable" motor for all intents.

Maximum boost is a terrible book. ST is definitely better.
In reply to poopshovel:
I don't have the kit yet. I'm going to be piecing together my own kit.
I was thinking somewhere in the 50 shot range.
I've been debating dyno time. Doesn't that have to be counted into the budget?
When reading Maximum Boost, you can definitely tell the author has injected his own opinions into the book. That's not to say you can't learn a lot from it, though, just don't take it all as gospel.
No book recommendations here, but I have ran a couple of different nitrous set ups on my past cars. Without going into too much detail I will briefly run through the set ups I have used...
The most recent kit I used was a ZEX wet kit. I was pleasantly surprised how easy this kit was to install and tune. I ran a 55 shot and never had any problems. The ZEX kit was great, and since it was so easy to install I actually put it on a rental Sebring I was stuck with for a month. Definitely made that boring, bland car a little more interesting.
The other kit I ran was much more sophisticated and is the route I will recommend taking. I had a Nitrous Express direct port nitrous kit, I also ran an NX progressive controller. This kit was the opposite of the ZEX as far as installation goes, bending hard lines and drilling the intake manifold is a surprising amount of work. The progressive controller is what really made this set up shine. I ran a 75 shot that progressed to a 150 shot. The theory behind this is that if the engine can handle a 75 shot fine at 3K RPM, then when the engine is turning at 6K RPM it is the same amount of stress on the bottom end running a 150 shot at this higher rpm. I ran this on the SR20 in my NX2000. I put at least 30 bottles through this car, it had about 120K miles at the time. The car was recently for sale and still has the same engine, now with over 200K, and it was still running great.
I get flamed on forums all the time for saying this, but nitrous set ups can be perfectly reliable if you install and tune it correctly. These days I am less interested in nitrous than I once was, filling the bottle is a pain in the ass. I prefer boost now!
