I was there this past weekend had a lot of fun... was in the run session with the WRX and was watching from the hill between turn 14 and pit in when the GT-R went off... keep in mind here I'm NOT a world class driver or instructor....

those that have seen the video and are able to analyze well from video help me out here...

from watching several times it looked as if the GT-R driver (who I'm told is a VERY good driver) did the one thing all my instructors have drilled into me to avoid....

it looks like his wheel is still turned ( as in trying to force the car to make the turn) as he pushes farther and farther towards the outside edge...

when the front tire drops off into the dirt it snaps back towards the inside tire wall... I've been taught ( and actually used the teaching) that when you're going to go off in a situation like his it's better to accept the fact... straighten the steering wheel, ease off the throttle, get the car "back under" you and then ease back onto the track.....

turn 3 can be incredibly nasty / scary if you turn in early...(lets not go into why I know this ) not sure from the video, but it seems as though that's what he did. It's almost always a recipe for disaster ...

any of these observations seem valid ? but i

hate to see it for both of these guys, very nice cars no longer.

The WRX look like in the last few seconds his hands were up because he knew what was next.

The GT-R sounded like it was electric.

You are absolutely correct. It is always better to drive off track in control rather than spin off out of control. When you know your going off track (accept defeat) open the wheel and GENTLY steer the car in the general direction you want it to go.
