Twitch is a huge time sink, but I personally have a good time with it. I throw a few bucks a month toward a couple streamers I enjoy watching, but they're both on the smaller end of the spectrum, for sure. Consider it like modern day busking. Drop a couple bucks in the hat for a musician, some folks do it for gamers. In a weird sense, I get just as much enjoyment out of watching some folks play games I'm mildly interested in, as I would playing it. Sometimes more, if it's a type of game I don't care for the gameplay but like other aspects of it.
Then you have streamers like The_Jank_Vs that I love just razzing them, it's like hanging out with your friends when you were younger, playing games and BS-ing. It's that factor that I enjoy about Twitch. That said, there are still a few games I'd rather just play myself, even if it's largely a solo activity these days.
