Happy Thanksgiving.
Just wanted to let everyone know that we are out of garage space and need budget room to pick up a Mustang for GRM and an Alfa MG or Lotus for our next Classic Motorsports project car.
We have decided to put our beloved Classic Motorsports Corvair on eBay. Find it at:

Possibly one of the best-written, most descriptive, and best pictures I've ever seen in an ebay ad. GLWS!
Aren't there any turkeys in Florida? Relax, eat, and turn off the interweb for a bit
Irish44j. Funny you should compliment me on this. We have been taking lessons from the folks at Ebay for a story on how to list a car and I have been practicing!
Wally, my wife said the same thing. Taking it easy is not what I do best.
I don't even like most convertibles, but this is gorgeous.
Good luck with the sale!

THANK YOU. Not that it mattered... I still had to mash the potatoes by myself while they were up at the State Park getting beauty shots of my Corvair, and I dunno about your house, but the Division of Labor Pact at mine says I will cook the entire effing dinner if he just mashes the taters and picks the turkey up out of the roaster.
Oh, well, there's always next year.
Margie
My dinner was easy for once. I worked and the missus did everything. I just had to carve the bird when I got home.
Car looks great! Normally I like the later body better, but you made this one awesome! Buyer is going to get a bargain
Awesome car. Those tires look pretty big...what size are they? I'm running 185/70R14s on my '64 'Vair right now, the stock-ish 185/80R13's are NLA in whitewall.
It always bothers me that it's nearly impossible to find the proper-sized battery for these cars...
Love that Kleer View bottle.

Mustang eh... 5.0 or 3.7? I'm biased but I'd love to see a v6 project
Very nice, and great pictures......but I just can't help but be bothered....why was it parked in a mud puddle for the pictures? I cringe at the thought of what those passenger side wheel wells looks now.....it was so perfect!...maybe it's just the OCD kicking....

No, we were also shuddering when Rennie pulled off and went Sploosh.
We shoot photos there quite often, but it was unusually wet yesterday after a novel combination of fall high tides and soaking rains left the ground extra saturated.

Never knew Chevy made a turbo convertible Corvair. I once saw a post-facelift turbo coupe in the yard of a dealership while helping my sister shop for cars. The top side looked OK, but since it was sitting in the weeds I could not get a look underneath.

that's retarded. total market anomaly, regardless of what was spent on the resto.
Tim needs to flip more cars. He has been winning at Ebay lately.

I concur
My dad has a white '62 spyder, same specs. I hope these prices become the norm :)

He's certainly winning if he is getting the moolah in his pocket.
Damn. I paid 4k for my non-turbo convertible '64 'Vair about 5 or 6 years ago. I always figured the darn thing was still worth about 4 grand, even after new tires, new top, and a driveline freshening.
Blame those Lambrecht auctions. Dumbasses were paying 3 grand for rotted to death 4 door earlies infested with rodents.
At any rate, well sold!

The market changed to some respect.
I think to actual Corvair enthusiasts, its still close to the $10k-$15k mark for Concours spec cars.
However, I think there are a lot of non-Corvair enthusiasts that don't know what these cars are worth and the more expensive ones are usually sold at auctions anyways.
I just looked up Hagerty's for E36 M3s and giggles, and they value a Concours correct '63 Turbo Convertible at $25,900. So, I think Tim and Margie are did pretty well for a restored driver.
What may be driving the demand is the amount of build documentation. Most concours and collector cars are not the subject of a series of magazine articles. They may be after they're done but usually not during the build. Everyone feels a little safer bidding on this one.
Also, the final price may not be a reflection of the car's present worth but instead a speculative buy based on estimated future worth. It would be nice to own a piece like this for ten years or so and feeling you could turn a profit at the end.
