And there's a problem with this (says the guy who drives a 325es to work everyday, and is pondering a Miata purchase - "you know dear, our son is going to need a car soon...")?
Find a way to fit a P71 in there, and you'll have the holy trinity of automobiles!

I'd love nothing more, but I'm afraid I'd wind up with a triple crown instead... from SWMBO...

so, im revisiting this thread. ive put about 10k on the car since it became mine. averaging 25-27 mpg on my daily commute. ive just driven the car since i got it. fixed the gremlins, added a cd player with an ipod hookup. ive actually grown to like the car. fairly quiet, good gas milage, and somewhat comfortable. so, im starting to look at tweaks again, this time due to worn out stuff. if ive gotta work on it, i might as well upgrade it too.

  1. suspension. the monroe struts i put on it a few years ago are shot. theyve got a lifetime warrenty due to my commercial guy, so i guess im going back with monroes. this thread referenced cutting coils for about a 1 inch lowering. anyone know hoy much of which coil to cut? these springs are funky looking. also, ive gotten some poly control arm and sway bar bushings fir it. ball jointsand tie rods are coming. any chassis parts i cant think of?
  2. wheels. one of mine is bent, and the tires are shot due to funny wear from the worn out suspension. id like to go with a 16X? wheel. any cheap, easily spurced options? 3, seats: what will swap in easily (like bolt on, no mods) with lumbar suppporet, and possibly tiliting base? the foam on the drivers side is SHOT. so its time to change.

thanks for the help, guys. Michael

Honestly, get upgraded F&R swaybars from Whiteline, some Tokico struts, and some decent 16" rims and you should be in good shape...

If it's 5x100, (i think it is) get the 00-05 Celica GTS wheels.

5X114.3

Edit: IS300 rims with spacers were something that was popular back in the day.

What sort of offset would you need for 16x8s? FD RX7 wheels would look pretty cool.

i wouldnt even be opposed to steelies if i could find some centercaps that are flat for them. that might actually look cool....

i actually just got done working on in. installed amp, sub, 2 newish deck speakers, and fog lights (6 inch brush guard lighgts behind the air dam. i live in deer country, and need more light at night)

i think i may actually have started to like the thing enough to research good, cheap mods.

If you need more light, head over to SUVlights.com and get an H4 Harness. Along with some 80/100W H4 Rally bulbs, and you'll have no more lighting worries. I ran that setup in my '98 Camry and it worked beautifully!

I would think those Lexus ES came with larger sway bars you can use as well. It's basically a luxury V6 Camry. It would be worth googling and junkyard hopping for them.

So how does it feel to have your soul sapped from toyotalathonliath? I bet you haven't even noticed you started listening to public radio and John Meyer yet?

Check out the Rippmods supercharger in some of the older threads on Toyota Nation. I can remember when Toyota Nation was a joke, and all the action was over at Camryman.org (circa 2000).

You know... i actually called Rippmods about 5 years ago, and they still had one or two of those superchargers in stock. Might still have it.

That said, meh. It wasn't a great setup.

I dont know about your local station but my local public radio station is badass. Imo.

As for 16x7 steelies which may or may not have been asked about.. 93-up intrepid, concorde, LHS etc all have 16x7 5x114.3 wheels. I think only the intrepids are steelies. Sleeper look but you can fit actual respectable tires on them.

I had bought a Rippmods header for the 5SFE for mine, and then decided to keep it stock. The header was a work of art, though!

hmm..... intrepid wheels. my local pull a part has a million of those. ill have to bvuy one and see how it fits up.

and no, i still hate john meyer. and the NPR in my area has some pretty good bluegrass on late at night. rest of the day is filled with talk of a political nature that i am pretty vehemently oppised to. so i usually listen to old 80's metal. like metallica and testament.

i tried my new light setup tonight. needs some more tweaking.

and ill ook at the lexus stuff. sounds like it may be right up my alley.

avalon, solara, es300. all share similar part numbers for sway bars from addco. all show the same part numbers for bushings from rock auto, therefore, i feel its safe to assume that theres no junkyard sourced sway bar upgrade. thats E36 M3ty,
