This is the part where someone is supposed to ask you to post pictures...
For some reason, my manual transmission BMW wouldn't sell on Craigslist, but I posted the exact same add on Autotrader and got a lot more responses.
If you don't get more interest after adding your phone number, I'd take some fresh pics of the outside. Preferably on a sunny day, or some place well lit. Those pics aren't bad, especially by CL standards, but they are kind of dark and gloomy. Besides, some new pics might get it noticed more.
Noted on the pics. This was "just done washing all the cars and OH CRAP the sun is setting fast these days."
And yes, it is not so much 'comparable to' as it is 'exactly the same as' a Matrix XRS. Same engine as the Elise. Which, I admit, is a somewhat pointless powerband when it has an instant 20hp bump at cam changeover that hits you like an automatic trans suddenly downshifting...and you have to rev to 6200 rpm to find it. Nobody ever liked autocrossing them for that reason but It'd be entertaining on the street I guess.
If I keep it long enough I'll start trying to fix lift.
There was a guy around here that used to autocross and track a Matrix XRS. He would consistently destroy Miatas and make it look easy.

A few points not in the ad (because it just turns into a rambling ad at some point)

When I first started autocrossing there was a black, insanely loud, FSP Vibe GT that ran a couple of events. Sure sounded good. Kicked my ass at the time.

If it wasn't a GT it would be exactly what I'm looking for. Having to use premium and getting less mpg for 40hp more that you really don't use on the street isn't worth the trade for me.
Good luck, and yeah there are still people looking for manuals. I know I'm one.
With something like 3% of the population able to operate a manual transmission vehicle . . . yeah, might have something to do with the lack of interest.
That and the fact that Pontiac is a dead brand. Nobody wants to hitch their wagon to a loser.
Clearly, youre never going to sell this thing. Its a tough pill to swallow, but at least you have us here to be honest with you.
I will do you a solid, and give you your garage space back, by sacrificing my garage space, and taking it off your hands. Normally, I would charge a fee for this. However, because its the holidays, I wont even charge you for the fuel to get me and my trailer down there. Please be sure the title is signed before I arrive.

As much as I appreciate your super generous offer, I can dump it on the local "sub-$1000 beater cars for sale" facebook group and it will be gobbled up by the wolves in about an hour based on what I have seen. But if I am going to do that, I am going to drive it a lot more first.

If you don't care about 6200+ rpm, it will run correctly on 87 (being variable timing too) but the MPG suffers almost exactly to match the price difference between fuels. And 89 is halfway between on both counts. So we said the heck with it and indeed used premium. But it was funny how exactly it matched. The car is determined to cost 9 cents a mile in gas come hell or high water.
If I owned this car, it would get premium and a rev-limiter test every day. An 8000+rpm 6MT for $2000 buy-in yields a lot of extra cash to spend on fuel.
More looking around on craigslist - since I am usually shopping hatchbacks only - boy there are some good buys out there for 5-spd, 10-15 year old sedans right now. And this is just the ones in top condition. $1500 '02 Protege. $2000 '06 Mazda3. $2000 Aveo. $1800 02 Civic. $1800 08 Cobalt. Yikes. I see why the average joe wouldn't give a hoot about mine :-/
Another issue is your timing. Everyone is thinking Christmas presents, not spending money on the unknown. If you can stash it until March you should be able to execute your original strategy of ask $2500 take $2000. Good luck.
As others have said, tough time of year to sell. I had a 1ZZ Matrix XR for a while, and while I enjoyed the fuel mileage and interior space, I often wondered how life would have been different with the 2ZZ-GE.
I'll just leave this here.... OK, OK, this one is in a Corolla, but essentially the same powerplant.
