I was in a shop not too long ago that had three Quattroporte's inside and a couple out back. Nearly all of them ran.
I've wanted a Bi-turbo since I saw one in person back in high school. I have stayed away from them based on the recommendations on here. I buy crappy VW's instead MUCH more reliable
Good luck if you buy it, maybe yours will be a good one :D
My buddy owns a foreign repair shop and absolutely cringes every time a local brings one of his two in. The repair is never what it appears to be, it's never cheap and usually takes twice as long as you promised.
On the other hand, I really like the clock on the dash.

Sounds like being a Maserati mechanic is a good job to have, if you don't mind billing the customer for scratching your head and finding exciting new combinations of swear words.
Too bad I really like funky old sports cars and thing that'd be about the only maserati I could ever afford. I've seen a quattroporte rusting away and just wish I could get one ride out of it. Hell get it for real cheap and run it to death, it might die in spectacular fashion. Too bad to hear they suck!
I think an boosted sr20 would be a nice addition to that car..
or the afore mentioned lsX

Love the body ...
needs an LS1.
I use a Blow through turbo regulator from a Bi turbo on my Turbo Corvair.. have yet to try it , but heard good things!
everything needs an LS1.
An earlier poster mentioned transplanting the Fox body 'Stang 5.0 in one of these, and that would be brilliant. I actually posted on classic Motorsports' forum that there were few classic cars I would turn down if offered for free, but the BT was one of them. Too complex and expensive for me.
There must be a reward in there somewhere if you can work on them, as I see them around and running. No non-enthusiast would ever buy one, at least I wouldn't think, and some enthusiasts that do seem to get along with them. They do have oppulent interiors, but for the money I'd rather buy a Volvo 780. Same beautiful interior made by the same people, less headache inducing mechanicals, and arguable prettier on the outside.

As the owner of a 924s I find this just to funny.
I just love Biturbos but every time I get close to pulling out my wallet for one I chicken out. I can't help but think that the same $2500-$4000 would buy a running Porsche 944 that I might be able to sell in a couple of years, unlike the Maser.
oh, and by now the only ones still running and registered are the good ones (i.e. '86 and up) which should make it easier to find one.
