I have Mastercraft MSR tires on my Sierra and they are horrible on the wet pavement. Almost thinking about swapping them out before roads get bad. Every slight hill or stop sign I have to lightly feather the gas or the rears just spin. I know I can put it in 4-wheel drive but man, I would have though they would have better bite than that.
Guess no one else has run those poopers
My father-in-law keeps putting Mastercraft somethings on his ~2014 2500 Chevy 4x4. He hardly goes anywhere, and doesn't tow that much, but he sure wears out tires quick. I've not been impressed with what little experience I've had with Mastercraft.
I appreciate this thread because it just lets me know a tire to avoid.
Yeah. Mastercraft tires are made by Cooper Tire. Cooper isn't known for producing very good winter tires (like the Mastercraft MSR). I've got a set of Cooper WeatherMaster S/T2 tires on my wife's Focus hatchback. While they seem to do well enough in the snow, they are really noisy and reduce fuel economy by 20% over the UHP all-seasons that are on it the rest of the year. Would not recommend.
I would used General tires before I use mastercraft.
Glad others have had similar issues. My wife thinks I just like to slide around (well I do) but really the tires are just crap.
I have a set of Nokian Rodian on my Wrangler Unlimited. I picked them up on eBay and they seem to be everything that I could want in a tire for a heavy non high performance vehicle.
I have some MasterCraft snows on one of my cars. It's up to 4 seasons 1 of which was a lot of use
I had a set of Coopers on my CX-5 and wasn't impressed but have heard good things about Mastercrafts.

Move along, nothing new to see here in this old thread
Canoe bump.
Since it's here, I'll throw out my .02.
I ran a set of Mastercraft tires on my F350 several years. They were OK tires. They were round, black, and held air. Ride quality was a moot point, it was an F350. They seemed to wear fine. The 460 would spin all 4 rears if you put your mind to it. The best thing about them was the price. They were $75 apiece cheaper than anything else on the market. So, while not the best tire on the market, they were a good value.
