Base price is $21,400. It is ANOTHER 2k for the recaros. Well I was really hoping that an ST with Recaros could be had for 22K.

I would assume you can buy pretty spiffy brand-new Recaros for that fitment for less than a grand each, no? And then you have stock seats to sell... If not Recaros, surely you can get some pretty decent seats outright from Sparco, or Corbeau, or...
I like it. Even though I promised myself that I was going to get a bigger car next time, I might find myself behind the wheel of one of these. 34 MPG sounds good to me!!! I wonder what it's range is...

Or heated.

Doesn't solve the airbag issue.
Little too rich for my blood given the larger, similarly powerful competition.
I thought the pricing would be spread out more as Focus ST is only $2200 more than the Fiesta ST.
I was hoping for a price tag around $19-20K. Lets see how well they sell.
I'm sorta hoping to buy a model off the lot after it languishes a while. I took a fairly close look at the car they had at the Toronto Autoshow, and loved it.

That seems like a plan. I bet that these will be similar to the Focus SVT that could be had for CHEAP at the end of its run.

Especially since they'll initially be manual trans only, severely limiting its saleability. Good for us, right?
I don't understand this board sometimes. Someone please point me to a new performance car for cheaper...

AFAIK, there's not a "run"- since the engine is also used in quite a few other cars, this isn't really unique. I'm guessing that they will be built at the rate they are sold.
Tangentially related: I saw a Focus ST in the wild yesterday. That is a sexy beast. We live in good times when Ford is making two hot hatches at the same time.

Yeah, now where is the Mazda2 with a turbo? or a 2.0l out of anything else in the Mazda/Ford lineup.

I got to drive one one day- I managed to find a small town dealer that was bored on a weekday and had ordered a loaded up screamin orange (or whatever they call that wicked yellow color) with the recaros and the whole kit. MAN that was a fun car. His only rule was i didn't light up the tires...... and by the end of the trip he was convinced he'd made the right choice letting me play with his toy. He didn't know it was capable of doing what I made it do, and he was going to go test it solo right after I left. I was DAMN interested until I saw that the sweet seats and some other basic kit pushed it to 29k or so.... that's a LOT of damn money for a Focus.

I still vote Mz2 with a DISI. B-car with 268hp on tap out of the box? With the capability of putting 700+ down? Bring it on!
Plus you have to factor in the mounting brackets etc with the aftermarket seats. Once you buy the seats, heated seat elements, necessary bracketry, the costs are the same. Except now you don't have the airbags or the OEM fitment anymore.
$2k for a pair of recaros is a good price.
I was at the local auto show last weekend. ALL of the hot hatches are more expensive than this. Fiat Abarth starts at 25. There was some special edition MINI (not an S) that was over 30K! The new Beetle was even north of 25. Why can't small, fun cars be inexpensive?
I didn't say it was poorly priced against the competition, it is just steep for what it is IMO. I will think about one if I can get 1500 off sticker with recaros.
