Hello,

Searching but not finding anything on this on GRM (although I may not be looking in the right place),

Any Mazda engineers or B-spec people out there that might answer several Mazda 2 questions?

Or, can anyone point me to the right location in GRM on-line for this?

Thanks much in advance.

Yeah what are you wanting to know?

User Flatlander is probably your guy. He had a couple of them in race form.

We had a Mazda2 in the fleet for a hot minute. (Although I admit it didn’t go too far.)

I have a 2 I've autocrossed. What questions do you have? There's also a BSpec group on the book of faces.

My original build thread where I built for STF autocross with DIY coilovers:

My old build thread for "Tot" when it became more track-focused:

Sale thread for "Blueboy" - never really made a full build thread for it, but this car was perfect for being a daily driver. Was very playful with the stupid-light wheels and simple suspension mods:

In reply to bobzilla : Purchasing a 2018 Toyota Yaris Ia (the Mazda 2 version with Manual trans), and wondering what some of the better B-spec performance upgrades might be, I prefer better low and mid-range torque to top end performance (for B-road driving) but have not been able to find much and not really sure that there is much that can be done to enhance engine performance on these 1.5 motors.

Any advice?, Thanks

Apologies to everyone for the late replies, I hit the "watch topic" eyeball but received no e-mail notifications.

Looking to build a 2018 Yaris iA (the Mazda 2 version with a Manual trans) for northern MN backroad fun and maybe some track day shenanigans.

Not aware of any engine modifications that would provide the low-to mid-range torque I would like to improve, but there must be some suspension/brake/tire-wheel/exhaust upgrades?

Thanks,

I do not think there are many/any low end enhancements. Check Chris Taylor Racing Services out of Texas. He's pretty much all in on the Duece.

Tell me more about the iA. Any pics?

Have you already found an iA with an manual trans?  They are pretty uncommon.  Many iA's went to rental fleets as a cheaper than Corolla option.  Therefore, all the rentals were automatic trans.  Many iA's that found their way to the used market are former rental cars.

If you have not found one yet, for 1 year, 2016, this was the Scion iA.  For 2017, Scion was gone and these were relabled the Toyota iA.  I'd look for a Scion version since they may be more likely to have been equipped with a manual trans.

Actually looking for a damaged manual trans iA (rear hit) that I could clip a 2020 hatchback rear onto.

Would that be what is called a unicorn (at least here in the states)?

There are a few out there but yes, you are correct they are rare. Thanks for the tip.
