Wife's daily. Check engine light is on. Not affecting drivability or mileage. She took it to a nearby shop, reports that they said it is a "communication code" and needs to go to the Mazda dealer.
She took the car to the dealer for something else last year, they tried to sell her a transmission replacement for a problem that I subsequently fixed with a drain and fill, so obviously I'm never going back there again.
Any suggestions?
CAN bus went wonky for the U0140 code. Most likely intermittent, but sets a hard code that would take 30 plus successful "starts" to clear. Personally, I'd write the code down for reference, clear, and see if they come back.
U0428 points to a steering angle sensor.
I'd suspect the vent valve is frozen shut/broken on the other.
My truck has similar issues when the battery voltage is low. How old is your battery? Try unhooking the battery for a while and charging it and then see if the code comes back.
