I have a Protege MP5 steering wheel in my '96 Miata. As expected none of the electrical connectors are the same between the car and the new wheel. As a result I have a Garage Star air bag defeat (loosely) installed, leading to an intermittent air bag light and no horn. I would rather like to change that.

An identical looking wheel/air bag is used in the NB Miata and probably a bunch of other cars. I'm wondering if I can get a clockspring for, say, an NB which will plug into both my NA and the MP5 wheel? Or if I got an NB air bag?

Anyone know off hand?

If the MP5 wheel doesn't have a hole in the back side, in the right spot, for the pokey thing on the NB clock spring, you can probably drill a new hole in the correct place to make it work. That's what you have to do in order to install the Efini wheel on the US 3rd-gen RX7.

Oh wait... are we talking about the plastic round ring with the nipple thing on it that goes into the wheel?

Need pics. Its likely that Ford parts that some of us have that may help.
