I'm half way through swapping out the engine and gear box In my 85 courier (Mazda b2000). I'm ditching the Fe 2.0l and replacing it with a fresh f2 2.2l (I'll add the turbo later for some f2t fun)
As part of the swap, I'm changing from the Mazda smooth case 5 speed (same as Miata, non turbo rx7's, b series trucks) over to a Mazda ribcase 5 speed (same as b2600i, turbo rx7's, rwd mpv's).
Now for the problem. The b2000 clutch disk is too small for the b2600i input shaft. I have another clutch to suit an mx6, it's center is the correct fit for the input shaft, but to big for the b2000 flywheel. What I'm hoping is that there's another clutch disc from something else that has the right spline size and the right od. Otherwise I've got to try and find myself an mx6 flywheel, which is the less desirable option at this point in time.
I'll hit up the manufacturer (exedy) tomorrow and see if they can cross reference something for me. In the mean time I'm hoping someone's come across something similar before and can point me in the right direction.
Things that won't work. Can't use the b2600i flywheel, it's 8 bolt, the Fe/f2 is 6 bolt. Can't machine the b2000 flywheel in any way, the diameter is about 15mm to small.
After a little digging, what I need is a 23 spline center at 26.2mm with an od of 225mm.
Mx6 od is 240mm, b2600i is 250mm
23 spline, 225mm OD, find a 3.0 Ranger clutch disk, if you can find these in your neck of the, uh, globe.. They used a ribcase based "Kogyo" (Toyo Kogyo is Mazda) transmission, and had a 225mm clutch.
This is also the clutch disk needed to put a Turbo II transmission on a nonturbo rotary flywheel. (Which also needs an RX-3/4/5 bellhousing so the starter works) There are therefore high performance disks available as well.

Thanks heaps mate, I was really hoping there was a parts bin option to make this work. What year model ranger are we talking?
Worst case scenario I can probably order one out of rock Auto and wait a few days if I can't source one locally.
I also found another possible option last night, but it lists the spline as 26mm, not 26.2mm so will need to confirm with the manufacturer as to wether there's actually a difference or wether it's a data entry mistake given that it's listed for a vehicle that runs the ribcase.
Looks like I have a winner, but I'll save celebrations till this afternoon once I've physically checked it.
1999 Mazda e2000 van, also appears to be the same as Mitsubishi l200,l300 and several other mitsu's.
Anything with the 3.0 pushrod engine should have it.
It occurs to me that this may not be terribly available. In North America, Mazda stopped selling Mazda-built trucks and just started rebadging the US-designed Ranger, while in a lot of other regions, Rangers were rebagded Mazdas. I think the switchover happened in the early 1990s.

Thanks for clarifying. It looks like that's fairly unavailable over here, so fingers crossed what I found works. At least it gives me a backup option that I can fairly easily get through rock Auto.
And it's good! Problem solved!
