MINI has officially thrown its hat in the ring:
if Hyundai is serious about producing performance varients.. they need to get the accent involved
^^^ +eleventybillion, Hyundai and Kia both need to jump on this, Kia seems pretty interested in roadracing at the moment and throwing the Forte Koup into the ring with a bunch of cars it might inevitably be cross-shopped with just makes sense. Nissan could do the same thing with the Versa hatchback, and Chevy really should throw the Sonic at this also. I could see this hotting up quite nicely if it's got enough participation and variety in the field and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to compete
So when is this series going to take off or is it already going?

No maybe about it, Kinetic and KIA are SERIOUS about 2012. Two Grand Am Conti ST's, Two SCCA World Challenge Sonata Turbos, and as many B-Spec Rios as they can pump out in an off season (or as many as they can sell, I suppose).
