Sorry I spelled your name wrong in the title.
Internet fame, you brief and fickle beast......
There is so much more interesting stuff going on here that I feel kind of bad. Certainly not deserving of the attention. There have been a number of new members that have popped into my thread though, and that looks like it's going to be a fantastic help.
I'm just glad people are having a bit of fun reading about the van.

I'd be calling the networks & see when you can hit the talk-show circuit. Might as well earn a bit off this, you know all these media outlets are.

Only after creating a YouTube channel and blog that documents the rebuild and other projects to promote during said interviews

Wait, our very own mazdeuce was the subject of a FARK thread? Clicky linky
As I said in the R63 thread, I've spent years crafting a life that avoids the responsibilities associated with getting paid for anything. It seems a shame to throw all of that away now.

I was just reading the Fark comments out loud and my daughter said to me "I'm sorry the internet doesn't understand you daddy."
I'm giggling.
In reply to mazdeuce:
Wow. I thought the Comments on the MSN thread were bad.
I honestly think anyone that isn't a part of the forum wouldn't understand.
You're rebuilding an AMG product.... I guess it's cheaper than the 57k... rebuild, success, SELL THAT THING!

Having a daughter that understands...Priceless.
It probably wouldn't be hard to link you up with some of the /Drive scribes (one was at OneLap in 2015, and I think Keith 'knows' the one that's driving around in a Dodge truck) for an interview... that sight is probably as close to the "mainstream" that might get it.
or, you know, berk 'em. if they don't get it, that's their loss.
I don't mind that people enjoy talking about what I'm doing but I'm not going to go seek out any additional audience. I'm quite happy being a guy who messes about with cars in his garage and talks to his friends on the internet about it.
I don't know what a Fark is, but the comments on there were sorta funny in a stupid way. Don't let the fame slow you down on the Unicorn resurrection.

This is exactly the point that those commentors are missing.
Comment sections of other sites remind me why I hang out here.
Well, here and ArsTechnica. The moderation system Ars uses buries the ill bred's opinions quickly.
Keep doing what you do mazdeuce. I'm glad you are having fun with the van.
Yet another reason this is the best online community of like minded gear heads. Always someone with a great tip or helpful hint. The enabling is top notch as well.
See? Another reason for you to get those parts and the engine back into the van: shut the naysayers up.
It's interesting that it's the same article repeating. 'News' on the internet is more linked than I thought.
I'm not really worried about naysayers. If a group of people start showing up talking about how quickly they redid their M156 after head bolt failure in their garage then maybe I'll feel bad. Until then it's just people yelling at the TV because they would have called a different play.
Wow, I just read the FARK comments. I promise never ever to get pissed off at some of the comments on here again. Wow, just wow. think, these people are out there, all over the world and allowed to breed and reproduce and stuff like that!!!!
BTW, I have never ever heard of FARK before.

Oh my! That is the perfect analogy. I am impressed.

14 years ago I would read FARK throughout the day and comment. Over time the site became an echo chamber of elitest ideas and ideals where Total Farkers was shouted down ideas that didn't agree with their ivory tower version of the world. I don't care to participate in communities like that so I left. It's probably been 10 years since I've been on the site and it doesn't seem to have improved despite several claims in that thread that they maintain and regularly track other Bavarian equipment.
The site used to be really big with the techie crowd. Not sure what it's doing anymore.
