Im so excited for you. I cant wait to see how this goes.
Almost finished packing. Made some shirts quick like. Interesting fact, the CTS-V does not come with a tow hook. I did not know that.
We made it from Texas to South Bend for the sign in/meet and greet. I've done this drive at least twice a year for the last 14 years and I've never arrived so relaxed and refreshed. The V is such a fantastic highway car. I highly recommend it.
We signed in, put the stickers on and talked to some people. Everyone is nice (as expected) and we're having a great time already. As the evening slowed down we headed out for a bite and drove the 15 minutes to my brother in law's house where I'm relaxing on the couch with his two cats. It's a pretty nice couch.
I'm posting some pictures I took at the meet and greet. Not all of the cars were there tonight but there was still some awesome machinery. I'm hoping to post pictures of every car through the week and I'm also breaking out the proper camera to take good pictures. Tomorrow is the wet skid pad at Tire Rack, I'll let you know how it goes.

As it probably should. I'm pretty sure that Camaro has driven far and away the most One Lap miles of any car ever.
This is so awesome! Questions: -I was told there would be a tuba? -Isn't there a lot of highway grinding involved between tracks? Those Atom guys are insane!
Good luck, and try to keep us updated as you undertake this quest!
There is not a tuba. We talked about it and decided that intentionally making packing and unpacking more difficult wasn't a good idea. And yes, the Atom guys and the Ultima guys are both insane.
The LTD wagon is awesome!! I bet a part of you saw it and wished you had Fergus.
Love the updates. I hope I can do this with my Mini some day.
Does anyone know if spectators are allowed? Specifically at NCM - I'll be in Kentucky at my sister's place near Bowling Green next weekend and would like to see the track. Having OLOA there to watch would be awesome.
Spectators are allowed at all of the events. You'll have to sign a waiver when you come in, but certainly come out and say Hi and watch us drive around.
^What he said, spectators are encouraged.
It's awesome. You see everything from Lee Keene driving an 800hp GT-R, to guys driving their 20 year mustangs on all seasons. It's truly an awesome event.
We finished the wet skid pad. I drove and it was exactly as much fun as it sounds. Driving as fast as the front of the car will let you in a big soggy circle. We left before any results were known so I'll update that when they post them. No pictures of the car moving as I was driving, but here are some more of the entrants.
This 911 was incredible. Carbon fiber everywhere. Kevlar wheel liners. Every fancy part I could possibly imagine. Unfortunately when we left it was sitting in the parking lot unable to get into gear. I'll let you know how that turns out.
Additionally, the guys behind us in paddock had a massive oil leak in their Miata. The owner of the car is going to try and limp it back to Virginia. The co-driver hopped in a 911 to drive out to Colorado. Once there the 911 driver will pick up his co-driver (who couldn't make the start) and the Miata guy is hopping in our car for the rest of the trip. We should finish today's transit around midnight. Only the first day and all kinds of wackiness.
