Sleepyhead and I have delivered the Lexus! Our reward is a wonderful dinner with spacecadet's parents and comfy beds in their house. Tomorrow we head to South Bend. This thread needs more pictures, I hope someone brings cool cars.
I got off the plane and my dad handed me a deep dish pizza...
My dad is a freaking champion...
T minus 5 hours till wake up to head to South Bend!
I'm hoping I can make my way up to Road America or down to Blackhawk Farms to check out the event and meet you guys.
If you guys run into trouble in Wisconsin at all drop me a line. I'm 20 minutes west of Milwaukee not too far off of both I-94 and I-43. I've got a garage full of tools, couple air mattresses and a hideabed couch.
I will have the racetruck at Grissom tomorrow but it won't look that good. What is it with Tim and black Hondas anyway?
It was an early morning to get done this early with stickers and tech...
Unfortunately 15 hours in the Lexus has made my back a bit tender today. More later as the cars show up.
can one of you post here or text me so i can post here with an expected time of you being at nelson sunday so i can figure out if i can make it, please? Knurled and I are going to try and tune the datsun’s pcm this weekend so i can do some mad skids

As it states, the track is expected to go hot at Nelson Ledges at 8:30 am. This means that the competitors will want to be at the track by 7:30 to walk/scooter/bike ride the track. This session #1 is stated to end at 11:30. There will then be a lunch break for the course workers until 12:30 when the track goes hot again for the competitors. That second session is expected to end at 3:30 pm
The cars are ranked before the event begins. The car wearing #1 is expected to be the fastest car. As the days wear on, competitors with better results will be moving up and the competitors with the lesser results will be moving back (though cars will continue to wear the same number they started with.) So, the later you arrive, the slower the cars will be that you spectate.
My advise. Be there before lunch for your own personal enjoyment! Stay as long as you want after lunch. Just know that once a car has completed the afternoon session (that starts at 12:30) then that car is free to leave and advance to the next town/track. Cars enter the track with a little time delay in groups of about 7. That means that car #1-#7 will start the afternoon session at 12:30. Expect that those 7 cars have left the facility and driving to Milwaukee by 1:00.
The Accord has been given #64 out of 78 competitors. They may move up a little but Nelson Ledges will only be day 2 so they will not have moved up that much.
So before lunch it is. If they were going to run at 8:30, nfw i’m getting up at 6. I love you guys, but not that much.

Just know that when the guys are done (my guess, about 2:30) they will want to hit the road IMMEDIATELY because they have 9 hours before they get to Road America, north of Milwaukee. That means a 2:30 departure will get you to bed by 11:30pm. The next morning they will be up at 6:00am and to track by 7:00am. Track goes hot again at 8:30am and it all happens again.
EDIT: but Time Zones!
Its 5.5 hrs from Nelson Ledges to Gary, IN and the beginning of Chicago Traffic. A 2:30 track departure would put you in Gary at 8:00pm (7:00 Cental.) That's good. There is little incentive to leave earlier.
The #1 car will be leaving at 1:00 and get to Gary, IN at 6:30 pm (5:30 Central). They will have to stop for dinner (of course steaks and lobsters) before getting into the Metro or they are just going to sit and wait anyway.
Saturday Night: The boys will likely be pulling into their hotel the night before Nelson Ledges about 8pm. The event hotel for Sat 4th is:
Holiday Inn Express & Suites Streetsboro
9459 State Route 14 Streetsboro, Ohio. 44241
An interesting little "car show" should happen there that night in the hotel parking lot. A hotel filled with 80 race cars.
In reply to John Welsh :
ah yes, the 7 course meals and 11 hours of sleep every night for the front runners.
One thing that came up in the Driver’s Meeting about Nelson is that one of the entrances is Inop right now... although they’re working to fix it, but when the track goes hot, they’ll be using the bridge over the track for access to the paddock.
In reply to John Welsh :
Hollis reported being at the track a couple days ago, and that the new surface has a lot more grip, and that it drains well if the worst comes to happen, and that some of the bumps after the kink have been evened out, which should help in the wet.
I’m shooting for 8:00 on Sunday at Nelson Ledges; three of the kiddos are planning to come along. See ya’ll there!
So, I spent some time socializing while Tech and stickering was going on. However, I’m going to try and limit how many pictures I post each time to around 5 or 7 so I don’t flood the thread with pictures. But, here’s a few of the cars that around this year...
I'm curious to hear your impressions of the Conti ECS tires after the event. I've got a set on the BMW and at least on the street, they seem impressively good other than being a little loud and flat spotting slightly even after a few hours (slight vibration in the front around 70-75 that goes away after a minute or so).
You'll need to log in to post.
