And road kill is sponsored by Dodge, that doesn't mean they can't make some interesting videos. I am looking forward to this but the Mira is much more interesting.

In reply to singleslammer:

That's where I'm at too. I much prefer custom fabrication episodes but I understand why they do what they do.

Gramps/Super Gramps and Double Unicorn were amazing. Turbo Yoda and Mechanical Stig always just have that look that they know they're good at what they do and don't have a need to justify anything.

I watched this earlier, good video! I didn't even realize my RS had front brake ducts until I saw this video!

I'm assuming since Marty has recently expressed his disinterest in his EVO X that the RS would be replacing it?

Guh... I fear the worst for this show. They are getting too big. Leaving the grassroots, and coming up quick. Remember when they used to just show us how to put fog lights on a car? (A car many of us owned in the past) and there would be a 1 minute cut of moog tasting human slime?

I say good on them for finally "making it big", but I see it going the route of every other sponsored car show.

Hell, Roadkill just got picked up by Discovery. Road Monkey Kill Garage Speedway.

I've been watching them since the beginning. The builds keep getting bigger and more expensive which makes me a little sad. I think it's started with the Supergramps build, that's when my enthusiasm started waning. The car is awesome but I could never get away with something like that in Cali so it's kind of irrelevant to me. Good for them, but I feel their original intention has been lost.

That said, I wouldn't turn down a sponsored RS either.

There's only so many times you can sand a fender and piss on it, or install a fake blow off valve. I think it's been a natural evolution for MCM. Look how far GRM is from "grassroots" most of the time. Even the forums have stretched beyond cheap, simple stuff. How many high end German barges, Vipers, Lotuses, and even Lambos are in build threads?

As a Master tech I thought the early stuff was fun to watch, even being well below my skillset and experience. Marty and Moog are still entertaining to watch, but now the advanced builds give me something to strive for. The software tuning, knowledge base (Stig and Yoda), and fabrication is impressive.

I have almost quit watching roadkill. the new episodes (firebird) are making me hate the show. its getting to be like watching reality tv with a unlimited budget.

MCM was cool for a while, i do agree when supergramps came around i quit watching.

I look at it as a natural progression. They started out not knowing anything and learning as you go. Now that they have know lage and a bit more money, the show reflects that.

How many times can you build the same thing before you and the viewers get bored?

I think the last straw for me was when they put an old Honda engine in an even older Mini. Nobody could realistically do that in their garage. /s

I agree the progression is natural, at least in terms of skill. The budget progression is what turns me off. Their first episode was a $500 hatch they put locks and a radio in. That's a far cry from a $40k RS. Most aren't fortunate enough to own the car, let alone do what I'm sure they will do to it. Again, I get it and would probably do exactly the same thing if I were in their shoes. They like cars as we all do so they're going to wrench on the best they can. But from a viewers perspective it's off putting. I'm sure someone else will fill in that area of the "market" eventually.

I do see the idea working for them though. They build the cars that are majority owned. Such as evo and sti's. But there is a much more loyal fan base at the very bottom of the rung. Which is where we all began. MCM hasn't even scratched the surface of that. They've never done a Supra or ae86 or the AW11 (that I secretly know is coming).

For roadkill they need to break out of the "here's a E36 M3ty muscle car from the malaise era, we are going to drive and fix it every ten miles." They started with something good when they tried the Honda and rx7 episode. Many of the viewers are young guys like me that will never afford the baby boomer muscle cars. We get stuck with the imports and 4 bangers.

Also think they need to stop putting that same 4 engines in all the projects. Jesus, do something else for a change! Do a I-6 from a dodge or some cosworth vega 4cyl.
