Look, we’re going to cut right to it and save you the trouble of looking through the whole article: Yes, the C8 Corvette Z06 was faster than not only the Z51–honestly, it wasn’t even close–but any other car we’ve tested at our official test track.
Read that again: faster than ANY OTHER CAR WE’VE TESTED at the Florida International Rally …

Well written as usual. If you were trying to convince people to buy one, you did a good job. Good enough for me to see if my local dealer has one in stock.
They do.
In reply to JG Pasterjak :
It would suck up all my money and then I couldn't afford the consumables.
I do enjoy reading about them though. It's time for a new magazine project car, isn't it?

Great article and I found myself actually getting excited about the performance this car can muster--a real punch-in-the-face reality check to the competition. While this Corvette may not dethrone everyone else, it's performance is silly-good in normally aspirated form--THAT, is huge my friends.
Yes, if the means prevail, maybe, possibly, perhaps, could be, potentially, might look to purchase one over a GT3. Hmmmm

Maybe it will change with this Z06, but people who shop the GT3 typically don't cross shop the Vette. Different cars, different dynamic. I am thoroughly impressed with the Z51, can't wait to get my hands on a Z06!!!

It's really cool this car exists. It's way out of my price range and no manual = no interest for me in a fun car.
One of our members here was doing pre-production testing last year and took me for a ride and it was astounding how quick and agile it was. And the sound..... It's not in my price range but I actually wish it were.

I've always loved Corvettes, and I enjoy watching when GM does engineering and wipes the floor with far more expensive hardware.
This thing is super ugly, even in person. Maybe it's because the C5 was new when I was in my formative years.
What does this quote mean "Chalk up a lot of that to the sticky Michelins, but the C8 Z06 points into a corner like a Lotus Elise weighing nearly a Miata less. " ?

I can tell you that they sound laughably awful at idle; like a Nissan Maxima with a rotted-out muffler.
So when do we get the test ride with teh GM recommended suspension settings mentioned ? That's gotta be worth 1-2 seconds. Might even be a ride of your life Cant wait to see if you can swing that....
Agreed please supply the audio as well

Best guess they are saying it initiates the turn very willingly, similar to a Lotus Elise, a car which weighs the equivalent of a whole Miata less than the corvette.

Very good, you are now certified in speaking JG. It's an aquired skill that not everyone can handle.
It would be interesting to get an E-ray to compare to this. I'm wondering if the FIRM might actually suit the hybrid more than the Z06.
The esses section of the FIRM is basically a straight if the shocks are good enough. For most cars, speed is limited mostly by how hard you can drive over each curb and how little speed and stability you lose while doing it.
Our track has a set of esses like this. With my rally-bred suspension, I could straight line them. It threw so much crap on the track that it was outlawed though.

Oh, that makes sense. Every time I read it I got it the other way around. Far be it for me to question the writing style of JG, but it was weirdly put.
