So the question came up with storing cars in a basement. It's a walk-out with a 6' wide doorwall. (maybe a few inches less when the door frame is taken into account) No, it can't be made wider. I think a Miata or S2000 could squeeze in. Any one have measurements? With, and with out mirrors. Other skinny cars that could fit? Looking for "modern" stuff with fairly well sealed fuel systems. No carbs or open vented tanks.
The widest point on an S2000 is 68". That is the rear fenders.
The mirrors fold back so that should buy you a few inches.
From edge to edge of extended mirror is 73.5"
The mirrors are 67" when folded.
That's funny because they appear to stick out further than the rear flanks by my eyeball. But with the difference only being 1" it's probably an optical illusion due to the shape at that spot.
Of course then you'd have to be able to get out of the car. It's bad to store a vert long term with the top down.

I want a garage with a roof. Door would be cool, but the roof would be higher on the list. Can't wait to move.

A miata goes thru a 6' wide clear opening, thats the pass thru from one side of our shop to the other. its not exactly fun, but it works when its cold out. If its nice we just go around outside with the donors. if you have traditional doors on that opening, I would doubt it will work. unless you take them off, hinges and all.
You need two cars. Willy has donors, so obtain one from him.
Then walk across the street and find a Grandma or Pa.
Have them park the donor first.
Back the donor out, then park the keeper. You'll be amazed at the new found clearance.
