I went ahead and bought the caliper rebuild kits for the 1991 Miata calipers. A set of the larger brakes from a 1996 has crossed my path.

Are the kits the same for both the small and large brakes? Hate to throw away a good set of seals and I would of course want to rebuild the large brake calipers.

I don't know about the rebuild kits, but you should be able to use the calipers from the 1991 with the brackets from the 1996 for the same effect. I believe the only difference is that the front calipers will need to be swapped left to right to get the bleeders on the top.

OK, I learned something new today. Thanks. Will look into this. Really, what I am buying is some sort of brackets that "Should" bolt on the 91 uprights, and the calipers. I would buy new rotors regardless. If the calipers are the same, might as well just go ahead and rebuild what I have and source the brackets.

Did you buy the rear caliper rebuild kits as well?

Yup. And a pair of circlip pliers with a long reach to get at what is purported to be a fun little circlip that needs to come out for an e-brake seal replacment.

Rock Auto seems to think they're all the same 90-04 on the rear 90-05 on the front.
