Friend of mine on another board posted this, priceless
"Wait, you got an AWD Miata?" "Dude, I think your transfer case is broken!" "Awww, maaan... I guess I will sell it to someone for $1000.00 and throw in this hardtop too..."
If it was tied down properly, all that would have happened would have been a smelly clutch and/or a stalled engine. No carnage - but instant red faces all around.
Young guy I know, emailed me back, and said, its sad, he went to school there.
I guess he recognized the shop
And he runs a boosted yada in the 11's Guess he wasn't there for the pictorial LMAO
For some reason there are a lot of people out there that think Miatas are FWD. I've had two or three people say something to that effect to me in the last couple of months.
The DMV did something similar with my Mustang convertible during emission testing. I got the manager before they could start the car with the front wheels on the rollers, and told him to start dialing his insurance company. He caught it before Dumb and Dumber could start the test.

There are a lot of folks out there that think the Miata and the 90's vintage Mercury Capri are re-skinned cousins. Yikes.
Since that Miata has no license plate and due to the overall cleanliness, I bet it's a donor that belongs to a school shop.
Even with no knowledge of the Miata at all, you'd think something might have clicked when they saw the N-S engine layout.

Ive heard that often when mine is up on a hoist, one mechanic will call over another one and have to show all his buddies. I usually tell them that even though it is rear wheel drive, it still doesn't change the fact that its a girl car.

This must have been done by the same guy who popped the frunk on my MR2 when I brought it in for inspection.
