That's not saying much, the stock MSM suspension has too much high speed compression and feels busy.
I've driven on "baller" Brand X shocks on 700+ springs on the street. Several different offerings. One set surprised me pleasantly, the other did not live up to the considerable hype. It can be surprisingly comfortable, but saying they're better than stock springs with good shocks is overstating things a bit.
Bumpstops are important on any car, but particularly on Miatas because they have fairly limited suspension travel in the rear. Some people do try to overcomplicate things, but a decent set of stops can help a lot. The red NB bumpstops do have a tendency to turn to dust in short order, and that makes for some very abrupt suspension behavior on larger suspension movements.
