So, I finally replaced all those stupid hoses. Buttoned everything back up and test ran it. Car does not appear to have any leaks.

However, the oil pressure gauge is reading zero. After momentary panic, I checked the dipstick and it's got plenty of oil. I pulled the filler cap, and there's oil getting to the top of the engine. So, it looks like everything is fine, but I probably disconnected something somewhere.

Where should I look for the connector for that? Trouble comes, that there are a lot of leads that don't get connected, because they're for options for things.

Also, if I drive this without getting that plugged in, does the Miata have an "Oh E36 M3" oil light that will tell me if I'm hemorrhaging oil on track?

no oil light, or you would at least see it upon initial startup.

Oh... found it on Google.

Aha... no wonder. It's the thing under the intake manifold, right next to the hose I was trying to remove. I probably pulled the cable to be sure I didn't damage it. Time to go check.

p.s. I'm hating this getting dark an hour earlier thang.

Problem solved. It was that one little loose cable that I thought must plug into something, but wasn't sure what. It did; the oil pressure sensor.

As I recall, it may be easier to access through the wheel well. I do remember that it was a bitch to change, or, more accurately, remove and add a fitting for a remote mounted sender and a real gauge.

New problem now. Apparently I disconnected the speedometer cable when I was working on the heater core hoses. Grr...
