I was trying to install an NB driver seat to my NA when I noticed that the NB seat didn't have the hole(s) to bolt the seat belt receiver thingy on the right side of the seat. Am I missing something? It seems than other than this the frame should bolt to the floor with no problem since the holes seemed to line up perfectly so I just need to figure out how to bolt the seat belt receiver thingy to the NB seat. I just want to make sure that I am not missing anything. Thanks guys.
I haven't tried fitting an NB seat to an NA (I'm sure Keith can chime in on that) but if everything else fails you can use the old style seatbelt receiver - at least up to '95 the holes are still supposed to be in the right place.
Early NAs had the seatbelt bolted to the trans tunnel. I have never seen a NB seat but they may be the same.
The NB frame and NA frame are the same ,except for the threaded insert that the seat belt bolts to. You'll need to add the hole and a threaded insert to receive the seat belt bolt, or use the old NA frame with the NB upholstery. I've done both, but the latter solution is the better choice IMHO. The NB back rest will bolt right up to the NA cushion frame.

This is where I wish my NB was near me. I do believe that (when I pulled the driver's seat out for the Corbeau) the seatbelt bolted to the frame. I know for sure nothing bolts the the transmission tunnel in that area. I'll take a look at what I got when I get back to it.
The seat belt receiver is part of the NB track assembly. You should be able to use the complete NB seat and track in an NA if the male part of the seat belt latch is the same on both cars.
I'll post this photo because this car is also a 1996.
In '96, the tunnel side bolt hole (with the gold bolt in it) is much higher and further back than the outboard one, which is directly below the small metal clip holding down the white plastic cover. It makes for some funky belt alignment (less than optimal) if you try to just add a conventional belt on that side.
Thanks for all the input guys. It sounds like the easiest way will be for me to find an NA seat with the right bracket for the seat belt for my '96 instead of trying to fit NB seat in it. Or I can take the seat to an upholstery shop and have them repair the worn out foam and fabric on the left side bolster.
Get some hog ring pliers and a bag of hog rings. Miata seat upholstery is easy.
If you already have an NB seat the foam is the same as a 1996 NA seat. You can use the NB foam and upholstery on your NA frame. I did it and used zip ties instead of hog rings. It' easy to do.
